Steering Column Question

The problem is that you collapsed your column. The column shaft is made up of 2 shafts and the lower shaft slides into the upper shaft. There are 2 plastic pins that go through the upper shaft into the lower shaft. In the case of an accident these pins are meant to sheer off and allow the column to collapse which in turn absorbs the energy of the impact and reduces injury to the driver.

You need to look at the shafts, pull them apart until the holes and the pins line up again or until it is the right length. Then replace the plastic pins with original pins or nylon screws.

I hope this helps,
Joe
