I think it was a great advantage growing up and learning to play before there was such a thing as tablature because I had to develop my ear and learn to read standard notation but man is it great for learning stuff. Instead of a standard staff and notes, the lines are the strings on the guitar and there are numbers that tell you which frets to play. A great invention.
