Hey guys, this just fell in my lap last night and I need your opinions.
1963 /6 Valiant.
Stock.
Auto.
Body is fair.
Needs paint and mabey fenders and some trim.

The guy wants to trade me a 1968 D100 1/2 Ton.

My questions are the following:

Does anybody make body panels?
Pitfalls???
What should I look for?

I realize that I can find out most of the stuff by searching
the forums.
Please excuse the questions but I'm on the road working (paying
for computer time) and the guy wants to close the deal on Sat.

Any help would be awsome.

Thanks Again

wait, so are you giving up the valiant to get the truck? or giving up the truck to get the valiant?
either way its probably a straight-up trade....the question is what are you going to have more fun with???
as far as your body panel questions, there are a few things available, but not as much as for B and E-body cars...you'd probably have to pretty much scrounge for everything.
The main pitfall is going to be RUST RUST RUST. that is the one thing that is going to cost you the most time and money to fix. Check the areas around the torsion bars, that is where the most critical place is structurally for rust.

Like was said, parts for A's are a little harder to come by. And early A's are even more so. If it needs a lot of trim it will most likely cost a lot and take some time to find what you need. Also, if it needs a lot interior-wise that will add up fast as well. Good luck and let us know how it plays out!

Man I am confused LOL!!!

LOL I had to read it a couple times but by the thread title "Possible buy of 63 Valiant" I figured thats what he would be getting (the Valiant). But hey, Im wrong a lot of the time :-D

Same here at times Lycandart :-D

Glass is another high price to have changed if needed.:-k
Look close at the frame rails Close:glasses8: to where the rear springs and the front upper control arms on the front end attaches.
Is it a bucket seat car with push button?
And what would be your direction you would want to go with this car.
Role cage or street show.
I loved mine :worthles: she would scoot and pull my boat great.
Gas tanks for them go for around $170 and then break line aren't a problem.
Shock towers need to be good " no rust"

Thanks guys!
I'm trying to get some more pics from this guy but
we cannot seem to connect.

Here is the ad that he posted:
OK,ANOTHER PRICE REDUCTION! Clean, low mile (65000) 2 door.170 c.i. slant six with pushbutton automatic.Mostly original paint.Lower 1/4's replaced, floors are rock solid. All new brakes, tie rod ends,tires,rad,hoses,tune-up,battery.Electronic ign conversion, headlight relay upgrade.Rare appliance aluminum wheels.I have new repro weatherstrips for the doors, side glass, and windshield (all uninstalled). This is a very nice driving old car.2 door sedans are fairly rare, this one needs very little to be super nice (int, paint) or is pretty cool as is.Have some of it's history.Open to trades such as motorcycles,pre-'70 pickup trucks (or maybe a van),a built small-block Mopar,or Early Ford parts(dog not included)
I did have to do some floor work as well, the car has sat much of it's life, resulting a few soft spots in the floor. All repairs were done with repro pans, welded in properly. The under carriage is excellent. The interior needs help, the seats need to be recovered, they have blankets over them right now,so they look and function o.k.The door panels are good, and the rubber floor is decent.

Let me know what you think based on the info and pics.

Thanks Again

From the pics and the description looks like a REALLY nice car to start off with. Looks really complete. It appears that most is just surface rust but Id make sure to check out the door bottoms, trunk pan and trunk lid to be sure its not all the way through. But all in all it looks like something I wouldnt mind having. Good luck and let us know if you take it home!!

Myself I would disassemble the truck and resto mod it, put in the 440, chrome it up, give it a killerstance, serious rubber etc. But if the car is your thing and it looks like it would be less work that would be the choice(of course you could put the 440 in it!). It really depends on what your looking for and which finished you would like best. It would be the truck for me.

I agree, it depends on what YOU want. Me personally, if I was going to do a pick-up it would be a 40's-50's, so in your case Id take the Valiant. But thats just for my taste. Go the direction that will make you happy.

Wow, well, honestly, I've always really wanted a Sweptline or a Fargo pickup, so if it was me I would keep the truck, make it a big block truck or something.

No idea on the Vart thing???

It was decided last night after tossing it around. I decided
to mod the D100 rather than start another car. If the car is still
there when I'm done my truck then I'll add another mopar to the
fleet. I've always wanted to build a straight axle old school truck.
In the meantime, here's some pics of the Duster I'm almost done
now.

You nailed that 1 Tony and Mike. That car is for sale in Calgary Canada. And since forzennorth decided against it Ill spill the beans that its for sale for 2500. If I only had the room!!

Yup, thats the one!
It's north of Calgary in Red Deer.
The guy seems willing to get rid of it.
Now that I turned the deal down he might come
in at a lower price???
