Yep That was a big one for sure! What kind of anaesthesia did you use.
Hope she come out of it ok. Keep us updated on the patient.

Well I think I am going to try and just replace the skin from the donor roof... Not sure if this is a good idea or not ??? Anyone ever heard of that ??? Except for the right rear quarter and the roof there was not a whole lotta rust.. just some small patches that I cut out and replaced.... Have a whole new quarter skin coming next week...Its going to need a lot of rehab after all this surgery...

I am sure she will pull through! And yes I have seen it dun to a 68 dart.
And she was beautiful after surgery. Just keep up the good work.

I remember your pics from earlier and that thing was rusty. It looks like you are on your way.

It looks like you found that spot weld bit you were asking about. :)

Not really... That's why I was asking.. I bought a cheap one from Oreilly and it lasted about 3 welds before the pilot broke... :cussing: Would not mind spending some $$$$ if I knew it would hold up better... Leaning towards the Blair...

I used the Blair's and others...The Blairs stayed sharper but, I think they are made of a more brittle material tending to break more often. I found the easiest thing to to is center punch the weld best you can. Use a small unibit drill. Drill down till you have a good center. Then take an angle grinder and smooth area best you can, close to flat. If you use the spot weld cutter on an awkward spot thats not flat they have a tendency to snap. Drilling squarely in to the weld makes it for better drill life. Dont be afraid to use a hammer to get it flat...

i know this is an old thread but what is the status of your duster? did i miss something? i want to see this thing back going again!

Well, Thanks for asking! To keep it short n simple, the motor is under good care in a machine shop. With a 904 Trans rebuild, new aluminum d/shaft. And, Having a few stumbles on the way.. While, I didnt want to Spend the $ on it, if I don't Spend the $ now it will never get done. So, motor will be 75' 360 Block .040 over, Stock Crank n rods, KB107's Nice Fat Drag cam. With the 915 heads (ported - gasket matched) 2.05 in 1.65 ex. Ahh.. And then, theres the the torque converter another $700 for a 5200 8 inch...Still Planning for the eventual Brown short car. I'll be happy with anything close to 10.5 on a best night. Mind ya it a trailer queen only. And yes I thinking street legal at some point too.

hey eric thanks for the update on yours also lol...i was really asking about sleeper scamps duster. all of those pics of it all cut up and i don't recall it being fixed back together again.....

eric it sounds like yours is going to be a real smoker when it is all said and done. make sure you build the 904 strong to hold the power from the 360..

sleeper scamp where are you????

WOW! That is one ambitious project!....!
