mopars are still out in the weeds!

This thread makes me want to cry.

I had a neighbor at the end of our dead end farm road back in Pennsylvania that had a couple acres full of Valiants, Darts, barracuda's, dusters, demons, scamps, diplomats, fury's, but mostly old Valiants.

He would not let any cars go, but would sell you a part or 2 "IF" you got the okay from him and his Wife.
I got lucky one day because his cows got out and came on my property so I rounded them up and drove them back in their gate.
This was the ice breaker.

At the time, all I needed was a set of dog dish hub caps that he let me have for free, but when I removed them I found a frozen dead cow laying up against one of the wheels and I could not get to the last hub cap.

He told me to keep the dead cow thing quiet and offered me a couple more parts for my Valiant.

He died a couple months later and I saw all his cars coming out one by one from a flat bed wrecker so I drove down and asked the Wife what was up.

She said she sold all the cars to a scrap guy for a couple grand.

I think the tow truck driver wanted to make me sick because they pulled a yellow 70 440-6 pack roadrunner with an air grabber and a pistol grip shifter out of the barn, and a yellow 71 440 6 pack road runner out and left them by my mail box for three days while they took all the other cars out of there one by one.

Man, that must have been one of the best scores of the century in the Mopar world but I never heard anything about them or the guy that pulled them out, and the old lady was not much of a conversationalist, even though I saved her goats from being torn to shreds from coyotes for the third night in a row when I trapped and killed them.

Hopefully he did not scrap the runners.

I had no idea he had those big block cars in the barn otherwise I would have them in my garage today.

Man if I only knew.
 
Found this one at our local junkyard. I was actually shocked to it. To see a Mopar around here in a junkyard is like discovering a new specie of animal.
I think this is a Aspen. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks WAY to big to be an aspen... 75 or 76 Charger or perhaps an Cordoba... 78 and 79 Cordobas are big ugly so ' n so's! wish I had the 78 Cordoba-boat still! hahahahaha
 
That is no Cordoba, thats an F-body (Volare/Aspen).


I have quite a few of photos of cars I see. I try to photograph every Mopar I spot, however I usually leave the dog gone camera at home!

Here are a few A-bodies and some stories:

I bought this Dart Sport for $50.00 in 2005. The original passenger side door was inside the car and had the matching other chrome sport mirror on it I also got the entire A/C system for another car and much more off this pyle.
The body was shot, however I robbed all of the good parts off it.

This is the car the next day. Seven days after these pictures were taken it sold on eBay as-is for $75.00

This is a 1971 Dodge Demon 340 I bought back in 2005 for $150.00. The grille was nice, it had a nice manual steering column & box, nice dash, nice deck lid w/ cut outs, windshield, interior parts, and both sport mirrors. I bought the dual scooped hood off the car a year earlier. There were three small bolt pattern slotted aluminum wheels oin the truck as well.
The car originally had nice doors (lighter weight early style, which I wanted) and a realli nice tail panel, however the seller got tired of waiting for me to pick it up and moved with his plow. These pictures were after he did the damage.
Unfortunately somone stole the passenger side sport mirror off it before I picked it up as well.
I still did really well, as I got $100.00 for scrap after I robbed all the usable parts off it.

I found this car while out cruising one day in the winter of 2005. I asked the owners if they wanted to sell. They bought it for $1,500.00 and their kid drove it for two years in high scool a couple years before. Something happened to the transmission and it got parked and has been sitting since.
Nothing fancy a slant 6 auto car. OI fired right up and sounded great! The interior was really nice.
I kept in close contact with them and about two years later they decided to sell. I saw the car by the road and they were asking $1,500.00 OBO. I decided not to offer. I was thinking more in the $350.00 range.

I've known this car for 20 years. It has a 340 and a 4-speed. It also has a Dana 60 rear. Whoever did the car back in the 80's did a spectactular job. It is holding up well. The owner lives in a $5,000.00 mobile home and says one day he is going to get a garage and fix it up. He also has a 1972 Challenger that is now completely junk and a mid 70's Power wagon with a HP 440 in it.

The guy that owns this early A is a nice guy. He is willing to deal with most anything and owns quite a bit. Too bad he wants a fortune for everything. He also has a 1969 Sport Satellite 1968 Charger, 1968 Road Runner, and a couple other that aren't as nice.

In 2006 An acquaintance of my dad called him and said he was parting a 1972 Demon. About two weeks later we went to look at it, however he already stripped most of it. He also already had pushed it with his bulldozer and didn't let the stump that was scraping the driver side slow him down.

This old guy loved 4-door A-bodies. More specifically with the slant six, manual transmission, and drum brakes. If he had a V8, auto, or disk brakes, they got pulled out and in went the six, stick, and drum brakes. Super nice guy though. Doesn't pay more than $50.00 for a vehicle and has no power in his house. He had around 20 A-bodies in his back yard, which can't be seen due to a hill in the way.
We went and talked with him a few times. He gave us a 1971 Grille, tuff steering wheel, and several disk brake set ups that were like new.

This is a private yard of about 100 cars. The 1969 Road Runner is now gone from the yard and there are a couple C-body squad cars and F-bodies left too.
These two Dusters are nothing to get excited about, however there is lots of very nice trim and pieces. They are both 99% complete.

This one is a 318 with a column shifted 3-speed manual trans.

This car is triple black. Too bad it is only a slant six auto car.

I bought this 1972 Demon on ebay for $500.00 in November of 2006. It was a clear titled complete car. Slant six with a column shifted 3-speed manual trans. Lots of nice parts. I sold the tail lights on eBay for $300 shipped!

The guy with all the A-bodies told me about this car and where it was. He said he couldn't afford it ($150.00). I went and picked it up in 2006. The body was shot, however it had a perfect running slant six (car only had 100,000 miles on it). It ran so good I hated to part it out. an extremely nice dash, and I pulled out the the entire A/C system, dash, hood, deck lid, and anything else that was good I could use, including the wiring harnesses. I swapped the small drum brakes with ones that were shot on a 73 Dart Sport we were fixing to sell at the time. I crushed the car with the mint slant six and auto transmission still in the car. About a month later I bought an extremely nice slant six Duster that didn't run half as good...LOL.

wow do you still have the dash out of that last yellowish car? the interior is like perfect and is the exact same as mine wow
 
This one has been sitting in a back yard about a mile from me for I don't know how many years. I've been planning to ask about it. I notice it has some recent black primer. Maybe they plan to try to save it. Anybody here know what year it is? I'm guessing 1974. Sorry for the lousy pics, I was using my cell phone.

There is a guy/girl(long story)up the road from me that has a Valiant just like yours. This joker wants $1,100.00 for it. Your car is in way better shape than this one. He told me he looked on the Internet and saw what these cars are going for. I was like,"OK!" That car will sit right there until it rots back into mother earth. Nice find....
