Which way do you guys think would be the best way to go on an A-body dash pad , after market or have restored? I called Just Dashes they charge $450.00 to restore an original one. I seen an add in MCG for a company called Ultimate Rides that charges around $230.00, but I dont know anything about them. I was just curious what experiences you guys have had with restoring or replacing your dash pads. Thanks Warren

I hope these repros force just dashes to get off the high horse they are riding. The just dahes stuff isn't an exact either, so I don't see justification in the price differential.

Last I checked it $450 for a black and $500 for other colors. :thebirdm:

Yea and the dash with 3 gauge pods is 599 in black and 699 in color. And they use your old dash pad. That sucks.

The repops are just in black and can not be dyed due to the materials they are made of. I have seen them and they are nice. I think Dante decarlo sells them at a good prrice.

As far as Just Dashes goes That is high for a simple A body one.
But bas far as quility goes They did my 70 challenger one that has stiching all the way across and it looks fantasic.
I am in no way rich but somethings ya just gotta pay for.
I built the lowly 73 A body first for a reason

I agree but there has to be somebody who makes colors, at least white as well as black. Kind of hard to get a B5 blue pad out of a black pad. I am nursing mine along until someone hits the market with colors. Ditto on the armrests too.
Chas.

I forgot to mention that I need a black one, so I might give an aftermarket one a try. Thanks for your input. Warren

you cant paint then repro ones? just when i had my hopes up.

Yes all the Just dahes one are black and dyed for the color.
What he is talking about is the new repop A body dash not a redone oem one it is made from some thing that can not be dyed.
I was going to send someone in OZ that also does thermo formed dashes some stuff to try. they look like they do the same thing that just dashes does at cheaper price. but shipping would kill ya going to OZ

Ultimate Rides is the company in El Paso that made all the Cudas for Nash Bridges. It's my understanding their pads are NOT vinyl covered foam, but are a moulded hard plastic (similar to the RAM dashes of the late 90s) If they are plastic (and I'm sure they are) then they can be "colored" by using the proper paint.

That Challenger pad I posted is a Just Dash piece that I received in black, then colored myself to match the interior. It wasn't a problem. I just went to the paint store (automotive) and told them what I was doing. They supplied me with everything I needed. EVERY blue plastic piece in that interior was colored.

I thought that the ebody one sthey were doing had a new plasic frame that did not fit well {but would redo your metal frame if you sent it in as a core}and a new foam pad with a thremo/vacumed plastic cover like just dashes.

a month or so ago somebody was posting new dash pads for sale.
bh/e ???? was the name of the company.
some thing like that was the name.
very good price.

If I ever get to it I have a black one to sell but I know when I sold a blue one a year or so ago I got a wopping 400$ for the thing yeah it was mint but when I paid 100$ for it with a set of doors fender etc I really didn't think it would go that high to me find one local and do your looking I have had 4 black pad 1 blue and 1 tan all for less then 50$ 4 were mint that sounds like proper pricing to me.

Well, I talked to a salesman at one of the best known, most respected Mopar interior supply houses and he said that he would not even sell me one of there after market dash pads because of their poor quality. He strongly recomended Just Dashes. I was really supprised by his honesty. So I guess I will save a little longer and ship it to Just Dashes. Thanks for the replies, Warren

I just bought a beautiful black repro dash pad for my 68 cuda from PG Classic for $195. Looks fantastic and as far as I know their prices are way lower than other suppliers.

BEA Parts has them. They are black and the owner says they can be dyed.

Well all the negatives I have been reading about dash caps I thought I would experiment with one on my 1969 Barracuda (just to say I tried one). The cap cost me a total of $62.99 from Robert Burgess and I tell you the fit and texture were perfect. All you have to do is take your time and prep the surfaces well, test fit and lock her down for drying.I repaired the crack first with Sonic Bond (Great Stuff).I think the finished product looked excellent and I would recommend this cap for an A body to anyone as long as you take your time and install it correctly and they can be color dyed.

I have always wondered how he caps turn out. I am thinking about a cap for the dart. Thanks for showing your pics

SYDCUDA, Did you retain your lower pads? I have heard that the current reproduction pad was for 69 on and didn't work with the '68 lower pad. Please post a picture if you can of how your pad looks. I need one bad and I'm trying not to go the Just Dashes route.
