Oil Filter Adapter I Need Help ?

I've had this problem (I think I know what you're talking about). You put a 3/8" driver extension in the threaded piece on which the filter itself screws (3/8" square). Then, the plate can be removed by sticking a thin flathead under to break the gasket seal.

Ya that's what I'm trying to do . My 1/2" to 3/8" reducer is at work so I'll bring it home tonight and try the 1/2" breaker bar . I'm not wild about using a reducer but I don't really have a choice . Thanks
