Apple Or Pc Which One Do You Own? (computer)

-
I don't use a Apple, I don't use a Windows either. I use Ubuntu and Mandriva Linux. There is nothing wrong with PC's it the environment that is run on them. PC's run faster than Apple and there are more hardware options and easier to upgrade than a Mac. Linux had more hardware driver support than Windows does.

BTW if you can use Windows you can use Linux.

Anyone who is interested here is a link for both Ubuntu and Mandriva Linux.

Here are some other links why you should switch from Windows to Linux.

My christmas gift was a compaq Presario f700 laptop w/vista home and I still have my 12 year old HP PC but she see's very little use now. I am not a big cpu guy so this new one is still teaching me stuff. What are all the complaints about Vista? I haven't seen anything I don't like yet, once I started getting use to something other than windows 98 I have found it has alot of neet features.

Since I quit gaming on the PC, and Apple switched to Intel processors, I've switched to Mac, and won't ever look back. iMac at work, Mac Pro at home.

No anti-virus software to buy, no BS microsoft licensing hassles. No Vista.

Apples cost more, but you get decent software with them (iMail, Iphoto, etc), unlike PCs that come with a half-assed OS and a bunch of trial versions of crappy software written by someone for whom English was a third language.

The hardware in macs is actually solid, as opposed to the penny pinching "We've got to be competitive with Dell!!" garbage you see in any non-boutique manufacturers PC.

They have a much longer service life than PCs. Until last year my wife was using her 2001 Powerbook daily with no issues. When she got her new Macbook she sold the old machine to a friend who was happy to pay $350.00 for it. What's a 2001 PC notebook worth?

They are expensive and worth every penny. Just like Mopars, right? ;)

LOL!

Mac!!! :-D

I've owned quite a few at this point, had an old Apple powerpc tower that I used in college. I caught a lot of crap for it because I was an engineering student, but even my Mac running DOS emulator software to run my engineering programs was more stable than most of my friends' PC's. I also used PC's pretty much exclusively in the engineering labs, so while I was proficient with them I would never buy one. Since then I've had 3 Imac's, only 1 of which ever had any issues whatsoever, and that was after about 4 years, I just retired it rather than spend money on an obsolete piece. iMac's definitely are not the way to go if you want an upgradable platform, but for what I use it for now I just buy it set up the way I want it anyway.

The new Mac's can run dual environment's anyway, so software isn't an issue if you absolutely have to run PC software. The Mac's are just so much easier to use, much more intuitive.

Plus with my new iPhone (and even my old iPod) the whole package is just a better deal, sync the Mac to the phone for my contacts, calendars, music, the whole mess, or vice versa for stuff I put into my phone away from home. Very slick.

I've had the same apple powerbook for the last 6 years and it has never crashed or been infected by a virus. Macs are more expensive but they rock!
only reason i had to get a new one after i had my powerbook for 4 years was because i had beaten the crap out of it so much it wouldn't turn on. mac for life! i have a macbook now and i know it will live for another 3 to 4 years at least. under the same conditions, my old pc lasted less than a year, i had crashes on a weekly basis, and the battery lasted 15 minutes. my macs have never crashed, and have never needed any maintenance by a pro. never had a virus since i switched to apple, and that's the way i want to stay-PC free.

I have both, since I work daily repairing both types at colege town (gainesville,FL) I can tell you I'm staying with my pc, it's a lot cheaper to fix.. it's unbeleivable how bad and in so many way's they can mess up a laptop or desktop.. of either flavor. I've never had a virus or trojan on my pc or mac(nothing aimed at the mac yet).. it's all about protection.. if mac's get more popular then you'll see and explosion of virus and trojan's aimed at the mac.. right now it's about 18-25% market share for small business and home systems versus the pc. the way I look at it with a mac you can only get certain things, only so many ways to upgrade a closed system and they build their Operating Ssystem software for it to help protect it. , but KILLER for Editing photo's and making animation. which is what I use mine for, with an open platform of the pc. (don't want to count the many different thing you can plug/wedge and jam into the pc.) your going to get problems if you don't know what your putting in your system and just think it's a neat feature or cool software but the speed is a lot better than the mac. cost is another factor that most people look into,
just my take on the pc/mac like and dislikes

all ive ever owned is pc's though ive built everyone ive had. never done the store bought mass production models. though ive used mac's i still prefer pc. build them like my mopars.....just they way i want them.

Been using a Mac for 20+ years. PC's have their place but I prefer Apple products. For example, I don't think I can run an OBD II scanner emulator on a Mac, so I'm SOL with that one. Plus all the fuel delivery tuning programs, all PC based.

I'd really love it though if Desktop Dyno or some of the other engine sims were being made for OSX, that would be the cat's ***. I suppose I could get it to work by way of a virtual PC, but I'm too lazy to go through that.

I was just wondering if any of you loyal mac users could help me...I just want to buy a cheap, older powermac or something for the time being. I would like to buy a macbook next year it will be my senior year and I will need a laptop for college). Anyway I found a G4 on craigslist that is reasonably priced and he says that it is a dual 867...making it a mirror door drive, right? Well in the pics he shows it isn't a mirror door drive, could anyone help to I.D. it for me? I asked him for HDD ad RAM specs but he didn't know, so he obviously doesn't really know what he has.
I'd jump on this because it is a good price, and being a 867 it could run leopard.

I have desktop PC.

My friend got a MAC and was bragging about it at first. He began having problems and Apple would not help him out under warranty. He got his old PC back online and has not complained since.

I don't know anything about MAC just what I've learned about my friends experience.

home brew computer' cheap.

Windows XP Pro, works pretty good,
I will not even try Vista.
