Emily's '72 Scamp

I got the trunk weatherstrip done and also laid dynomat on the floors and inside the doors. Now on to the carpet. And yes guys, the Tink floormats stay with the car. This is after all my daughter's car.

I stayed up till 3 am putting her all together (I had to leave early for a trip anyway) and she is almost done. OK, there are some issues to address like a leaking transmission (wish I had known it was a leaker when we had the engine out) and it needs a front end alignment as we replaced everything on the front end (including the K member to get a spool mount). It actually drives strait down the road, so I guess my estimate of the proper placement of all the parts was at least close.

We sure like the way the *** end sticks up now with the replacement springs. A whole lot better than the saggy bottom boys it was looking like before.

The rear seats look pretty good considering they started life as off white. I used spray on fabric/plastic dye (the expensive stuff) and it worked well. Shouldn't be much issue with wear as they are back seats after all, and hopefully my daughter won't be giving them too much of a workout.

We replaced the two piece lap/shoulder belt with a nifty one from XV Motorsports. They are the only suppliers I found with a proper drop for the shoulder harness.

We have almost all trim on, except the front and rear window surrounds as the clips are pretty wasted. I understand the only way to replace the clips is when you have the glass out. I think we will try some heavy duty adhesive of some sort.

I'll have to get to the door panels when I get back (or maybe Ross will have them done?)

What about Tara's dart? Ill let her know you forgot her:bootysha:

Clean them tires on Tara,s car!It would look so much nicer!!8)

On Tara's car? Sorry, yep they got cleaned and Emily has been driving the heck out of it. The car is all dirty and someone scratched the drivers fender (very minor). I need to buff it in the daylight because there is a few spots here and there.

It's all good, I get them all mixed up to. Emily has he scamp Tara has the dart I have the Aspen and the Newport. We also have the duster. It gets a little confusing at times. Dad also has the '49 drop top and the hard top parts car. Grandpa has the '52s (4x 2 4doors 3 wagons) the '53s (2 4doors) and the '34. That's not including all the newer cars and the parts cars.

What seats did you guys go with?

Good question. I don't know. They were at school in the body shop and we were cleaning up and Tom told me to throw them away. I asked if I could have them and he said sure. I brought them home and pop saw them and said those would be perfect in the scamp. Long story short my seats ended up in the scamp.

wow, that paint looks great! a lot of people don't understand that wet sanding makes a HUGE difference in the finish. it's all about the prep work! wish my scamp's paint looked that good... guess that's what i get for having original :D
it came out really well, definitely something to be proud of!

I finally had time when Emily was not gone to clean up the tires and give the scampo a little bath. The raised white letters look pretty good once given a good scrubbing. That yellow reflection is my wife's yellow truck, not some imperfection in Ross' paint job.

Do you have the part number for the rear section of the exhaust pipe you got for it? I tried to get one for my Dart but the guys at the parts store by my place couldn't get one and they ran the numbers up to 1983. I need a new muffler and all the pipe from the muffler, over the rear, back. Ross said you got it from Napa?
