I thought that might get your attention. I haven't posted in a while, just busy with other things. I wanted to share my good fortune with you guys. I was at a friend's house a couple of weeks ago unloading his car from the trailer when one of his neighbors swung by to chat. It seems the neighbor had bought a new bigger motor and trans for his 35 Plymouth street rod and he wanted to tell us about it. Since I knew the "old" motor was a strong 318 I immediately asked him what he was doing with it since I have a car in my garage that needs a motor. (I have two disassembled motors but both will need large cash injections to make them viable). Anyway, he says, "Giving it to you!" I didn't really believe him so I asked again and he says, "yeah, it runs great, I just need to keep the valve covers if that's ok?" I am still in shock but as of last Friday night that motor is sitting in my garage. It is complete from pan to billet air cleaner, just needs a water pump and my choice of headers, plus a little elbow grease. The distributor has a brand new Pertronix ignition and I got the wires, pulleys and linkages too! Oh yeah...and a 904 transmission. Here's a couple pics with my valve covers on it. This will definitely be a running car this spring!

Good to hear from you Scampi, Bud!! you must be living right. :-D
Congrat's

Holy crap! Nice score Gary!!!

Are you keeping the 360 in the red scamp or are you going to do bad things with it involving a bigblock?:snakeman: (I vote for a 451):snakeman:

I got Bart running great with a rebuilt carter 650, I did a compression test and it was 118 all the way across with no leakdown. Nikki wants to swing by sometime and grab that headliner board so she can cover it and put in some insulation so the heat will stay in the cab.

I guess this means you wont be needing those 904s I have that are taking up all that space under my workbench:D .....hey Ross need some 904 stuff? LOL

i would personally deliver him a case of beer with a red bow on top of it

That's cool. but it happens. Back in '91 I had a friend who's car was junked after we found we had twisted it so bad the body was permanently bent. I gave him a car I had just picked up because it was cheap and so clean. He drove it for a year or so, then took it apart and started upgrading it. Fast forward to this past saturday... and I picked it back up from him. He's into bikes now, and the car was languishing, so he gave it back. Wicked cool.

Yes, I definitely need to buy him some beer! To give you an idea of the kind of guy he is, he also gave my buddy a complete VintageAir air conditioning system out of his Plymouth! He says real hot rods don't have air conditioners! :toothy10: I did give him a solvent tank I had and wasn't using.

JR, good to hear from you man! The headliner is here whenever you want, just name the day. Man I'm glad to hear that Bart is doing well. He deserves to be driven! Oh, and I guess I'm good on 904's, especially since I know the one on the motor is good. As much as I want to do the big block thing, I just don't know if I'll be able to afford it. My son is going to WSU in the fall and my daughter is still there, you know how that goes.
I need to have a garage sale! Three extra transmissions and two extra motors make it tough to work in there!

Oh, by the way, I may have a line on an 8 3/4 A body rear from a 71 Demon, depends on how much shipping will cost me. Anyone try Greyhound?

well Gary if you are just going to give away motors...:toothy10::toothy10::toothy10:

Great score! Your friend has an excellent neighbor, my neighborhood is full of Generic Motors people. Not much they could give me that I would want!

Wow Scampi, that's an awesome score! Just the accessories that came with the deal would be enough to turn my head -- love the ball milled air cleaner especially.

On that 8 3/4 you're looking at, call my pal Tyler the shipping guy. He'll surprise you with the quote and it won't be rolling around for 3,000 miles in the bottom of a bus. LOL Here's his digits 888/762-7158, Ext. 701.

Congrats on the sweet scores!!! You wouldn't happen to know anyone giving away a huge a$$ powder coating oven, would you???

Congratulation, nice score.

It reminds me of when my best friend and I were in a junk yard about 16 years ago pulling MOPAR parts and a fella offered us his '75 Dart Sport if we would come and take it out of his yard; he even gave us the title for it. 318, auto, w/ AC; all it needed was a timing belt.

Hey Ross, maybe we can work a deal. I need good (like Doug's) headers and a windshield to get this thing rolling. Chances are I'll have to buy those new but it can't hurt to ask. :-D I have the 400 that came with the Scamp from JR, I also have the 318 and a V8 K frame that I won't be using as well as the power steering assembly out of that Dart you got the front end off of. A big block and a small bock 727 and an extra 904 too. Sounds like JR is trying to keep you out of trouble though...
Thanks for the tip on shipping CudaChick, I'll give Tyler a call when I'm sure this rearend is going to come my way.
Brad, I was trying to find a thread that was started a while ago about best scores you ever got to put this in but I couldn't find it. Whatever happenned to that Dart Sport?

Good deal, Scampi. I've heard the saying that stepping in **** brings good luck. With me, it's just stepping in ****.

Hey Gary, give this guy a call he does all the windshields for the shop trucks at Holcam. I can't remeber off hand what he quoted me but it was pretty good.
