What head are you working on? Looks like there should be substantially more port volume when you're done.

I believe its from a 73. I was suprised to see how much of a difference between the exhaust and intake sides. Not touching the intaks until I get it so as not to err on the to big side.

Will you then match the intake ports to the intake you have? You could also grind the intake to match the gasket, but I'm not sure what this would do to intake port velocity. Never had a slant so I'm not sure exactly you should port them for power.

I am watching and learning, so keep us updated on the porting and the do's and don't's please.

Well so far I have used the aussie gasket and it is a bit bigger than our stock, so my exhaust have a bit of a flare at the opening. My goal is to blend it as best as possible & try not to hit the water jacket. So far I am happy with the progress. I have used a 60 grinder and a steel deburring bit that has saved me tons of time. Gotta be careful not to stay in one place to long though. I will be ok as long as the exhaust matches the flare and no smaller. This will create a step and impede the flow. I dont have the intake so I'm going towait on those but i am in the polishing process of 3 of the ex ports. More pics later. Dean

Thank you Dean, I am glad some one is posting pictures and explaining it as you go.:clock:

Port pics round 2. The only regret so far is I wish I had used the stock gasket instead of the Ausie. Great product just a lot of cutting due to larger ports. Ill keep pluggin' along

Why did it all come to an end. Are you still working on the porting job, would love to learn more if you are.

Thank you

The finished product is under "finally". I tried to link it but not quiet that savy yet. The only thing I would do different is using a steel gasket instead of the Aussie for my template. The aussie's a bit bigger port wise. Also dont try to clean every bit of dirt out of the combst area,I almost ground out the seats. Otherwise I recommend giving it a try little bits at a time. The heads getting surfaced and notched for the bigger valves. I'll post some pics of it when I get it back.
