I'll be getting the aar glass 6pak hood (lift off) and painting it black. since i'll need hood pins, is there any place where i can get black hood pins? id like to disguise the hood pins a little instead of having the chrome/billet ones. Only place i have found is hoodpins.net but for $150 a pop, i dont think they are worth it; espeically since i figure i need 3pins up front and 3 pins in the back.

Get 'em anodized black locally, or send them to Leanna to powdercoat.

Thanks for the props OCdart! (Hmmm, reminds me I'm still waiting for some feedback for my website on those valve covers I did for ya. LOL!)

I have a powder called Silk Satin Black that's a really nice flat black with a bit of texture to it. Should be a nice match for a hood blackout. Those ARE some really sharp hoodpins -- distinctive styling for sure -- but wow, that's a LOT of money for a few pieces of metal.

ya emailed the owner and i guess you get a pair for $150 but still out of my budget. when i get some pins, ill send them to you leanna.

I dont mean to hijack threads but why 6 pins? Ive seen most lift off hoods with 4 pins so I just set up my fibo lift off 6 pack hood with 4 moroso pins and its all stainless and i like the way it looks. it doesnt seem like its about to come flying off or anything but should i be worried?

i think i remember reading that you want one in the middle just to be safe but im not certain. if i can get away with 4 then i will.

Hoodpins are for street/show cars. Use Dzus type fasteners if you want to tie it down good. At 125+ MPH hoodpins don't hold down diddly. You'd be amazed at how much flex there is in a fiberglass hood with only hoodpins at high speed.

well its a street and strip car and its painted already so dzusing was out. I think dzus fasteners are great but to me they belong on full out race cars not my roll bar pump gas street car. I made really strong hood pin mounts and as long as I dont have any issues with the hood flying off Ill be happy.
