I just hope you never have a backfire. Ever. Rules out using nitrous. The strip may frown on that during inspection too. The firewall is there for just that reason, to keep fire and fumes out the passenger compartment. That's why the OEM's never did this.

The OEM's did do this. Chevrolet had a similar setup on 67 and 68 Z28s.
