There are those days when I wonder if this old girl was happy being put out to pasture. Last week the dip stick snapped off. This week I get in from being out of town and go have a look at the old girl. As I lifted up the hood, POP! The spring for the hood hinge came off the post. I have not been able the see inside well enough but I'm hoping I can get at it with the splash guard odd and not the whole fender. Has anyone fixed this issue before?

Thanks

There is a post that sticks out that the spring slides on to. Then there is just a crush washer that holds it on. Sounds like that washer gave up on you. You can pick them up at the harware store if you know what size you need. You may be able to fix it with the fender on. But it will be a lot easeyer with the fender off.

Hope I get away with the fender on. What a pain they can be to line up sometimes.

Thanks

Yep i am working on mine as we speak. had to pull the fenders partly off to get at the post. yes it was a big job and a pain in the ***.

hey 69 i had the same problem i removed the fender extension and i also used a long ratchet extension 3/8 drive swivel head with a socket big enough to go around the pin and help the washer go on you can get at them between the fender and door

I'll give that a shot first and take the fender off in the worst case scenario.

Thanks
