Im about to paint my 74 duster grille...

wash it real good with a long bristled brush a scotcthbrite pad and comet powder, wetsand all the areas that you can and scotchbrite it again, front and rear of it,let it all dry thoroghly, then wipe it all down with prep sol and dry it,then spray it with "bulldog" it is an adhesion promotor, you can also add it to your paint, then spray the grille with the color of your choice , then using a high quality automotove masking tape...tape off the areas you wish to remain silverthen spray the entire grille black or whichever colors you desire, then you can pull all of the tape off and clearcoat it,if you want the flat colors you can use a flattening agent in the clearcoat,I went for the shiny look.hope this is helpful
