t5 trans swap?

-
yes mine has the ford stud on it...it is on the opposite side that the mopar fork would come through

yes it did, thats why im going to use the mopar 4 speed stuff...when i first got the bellhousing i posted up on here asking the guys how in the heck it would work with the ford ball stud and then they pointed to the brackets i had posted in the pics and showed me which one it was.

Good deal. I was going to offer to send my stuff to you since I won't be needing it

what do you mean the 4 speed stuff? im gonna try to take a picture of all the 4 speed stuff that i already have and post it up here...if i am missing something in my pile of parts and you have it would you mind working out a deal maybe?

The bellhousing is off Ebay.. $35 with the fork. Application is '93 Dakota w/3.9L 5sp. The trans in the Dakotas is an AX15. It is not a good trans to use because its weak. But, the bell fits the other transmission of the same manufacturer... The trans you want is the R154, and the manufacture is Aisin-something... The swap was off a 88-90 Toyota Supra Turbo. Non turbos use something totally different. I'm now having the yard chase down a yoke or driveshaft and a shifter.

Moper keep us posted. sounds cool. Unfortunately I'm back in Jersey now for a 2 week deal and won't get to touch my car for a while. I have to redo my engine wiring harness and relocate my battery before I can fire it up and test out my T5 setup. I hate being in Newark but I did get to go check out XV Motorsports in Irvington, Ny today. Really cool place.

here is a picture of the 4 speed clutch linkage stuff i have...can anyone tell me what i am missing if anything? hopefully not alot...i also have the full pedal assembly, but its up in storage right now

Any of you guys have any ideas on adapting either a T5, AX15, ot R154 trans to a /6?

I would really like my Valiant to be able to go cross country without the fuel mileage killing me but still have a little zip around town and a 5sp conversion sounds like the way to go to me.

check out slantsix.org....theres been a bunch of guys on there doing that...I think they have their own custom drilled bellhousings that they sell there or something...give it a look there a nice bunch of guys there

737, I walked thru the place with John about 3 years ago. Very nice spot, some nice iron, and nice people there. I know he's added to staff since I was there...lol.

Furious, You'd have to modify a /6 bell because of the starter placement an angle. I think for you the T5 is a good option and I know it's been done.

very intereseting thread!

mshred - are you using the Mustang shifter? Do you have any pictures of your trans crossmember and any modifications you did to the floor/torsion bar support?

hey there, I am using a hurst short shift for a mustang with a t5...going to be changing the stick on it more than likely for a comfortable position...i havent actually done the swap yet though so no pics yet...just gathering the parts i need for it right now

moper sounds kool,,,some pics of the toyota tranny would be kool if you can...that bell you are using is set up for a fork and a slave cylinder correct??? later dakota tranny bolted to the bell from inside the bell strange deal

Hi, Moper - you are right. And I did the swap in my 72Dart340 last year. And the Moparts Topic someone here is refering to was started by me. Since the swap I have 1000's of Miles driven. In germany - Autobahn, left lane. Never had a problem.
In my eyes the weakest point is the original Dakota clutch hydraulic. I hate this non-serviceable plastic stuff. But wilwood is a bit too pricy for me. So I'm open for every suggestion....!

And this swap fits with a bench seat... ;-)

would you happen to know what kind of throwout bearing would work with a mopar fork for the t5 swap when using the mopar 4 speed linkage instead of a hydraulic setup?

if your factory style master is a problem,,they are cheap to buy, and should last a long time if new,,

the wilwood clutch master isnt to high priced,,49.00 if i remember correctly at speedway motors check there site out,,,not sure if they ship to germany,,,,but ide be wiling to have you buy the parts ide ship them to you if speed way motors wouldnt,,,

well i looked at the link,,the pic i seen was of a hyd throw out bearing,,and cant really tell what bracket you are talking about,,always intrested in modified parts,,

the 2 piece metal bracket that is attached to the master cylinder that bolts up to the firewall. a lot easier to fabricate than the one that I purchased from Kiesler. I could have made that myself and just bought the Wilwood master myself for a lot cheaper.

you must have x ray vision,,lol i cant really see what that bracket is all about,,my master bolts to the fire wall,,using the orignal speedo cable hole,,,
if you have a better pic then i can find on that site please post it,,

In the bottom of the picture is the master cylinder with a 2 piece gold colored bracket attached to it. That bracket attaches to the firewall using the stock 4 speed linkage hole and angles the rod up to attach to the clutch pedal under the dash.

If you look back at the pics that I posted I have a setup from Keisler that uses a billet adapter/spacer that attaches to the same hole.

i see what you are talking about,, but cant see it clearly enough to make one from the pic,, i do like the one you got from keislier,,, that master you have from keislier,,is made by mc cloud,, i guess keisloer makes the fire wall adapter,, dont know what you paid,,but it looks great,,
do you have the specs on your keisler master ?? like bore size and stroke length ??

actually keisler makes the billet adapter but they use a Wilwood master. I think the bore is .75" . not sure of the stroke but they have it listed on their website. It's the biggest one they make. I tried to think of a way to make my own adapter so that I would have to buy Keisler's but just couldn't seem to do it. Then I saw this other adapter and how simple it is and now i feel like a dumba$$. Could have made one myself and saved a couple hundred bucks. Oh well. I do like to looks of the one I have and I think it should work out fine.

Thanks Fstfish, I'm back to you if I decide to use the Wilwood Master. But I need a slave too. And the hydr. line. I guess they are all not metric?

The original setup from the Dakota is not that bad. But you can't bleed and the plasic line between Master and Slave is very stiff and pretty close to the Headers. Thats why I want another system...
