hi all, been driving the 1974 scamp around before the teardown, when i exit the roadway into a lot, the car nosedives and bottoms out in the front, havent had it up on a lift yet to check it out, if my torsion bars are good, but have bad shocks, would this cause this, or vice versa ?!? new to torsion bar front suspension, hoping this is something someone has run across, moneys tight for build up, at least my hopes are high, thanks in advance, nosediver

I,d get it up in the air and have a look. Can,t be good to be bottoming out, hurts the frame and control arm structure!Cracks, breakage, check your shocks and also torsion bar adjustment.(might be adj. for low ride).

Sounds like you need to tighten the torsion bars up some. I had the same problem, new shocks and tightened up the torsion bar and it's not a problem anymore.

I think your on the right track, either torsion bars or shocks. I bet that makes for a scary ride.

Worse case scenario would be a rotted out torsion bar crossmember. Had that happen on a 1970 Valiant way back when.................

yeah im concerned, gonna do egine, trans, rear, front end etc.. as the money very slowly comes in, i hope its just shocks and an adjustment of the torsion bars, scary comment on the rusted out crossmember, hope thats not whats there, once were done the motorcycles, the garage space is gonna be for the scamp, ill keep the findings and progress updated here, this site rules, im beyond happy to finally have my mopar, someday my notchback cuda, all you fellas on this site are aces, thanks

When we first got our 67 Dart some one had lowered the front end down to the stops. (Looks Cool) We had the same problem. Set the torsion bars to specs in manual and put on monroe gas shocks. Everything fine now and there is about 1-2" of space between the stops and rubber bumper. Good Luck!
