Why some guy shouldn't own welders.

-
My guess is the guy was more of a welder than mechanic. Although the welds look like $hit.

I can't weld for crap, but my stuff looks WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than any of those "welds". Apparently, that dude does his best work "under the influence"..........

I havn't laughed so hard at a simple thread. I know that car is unsafe for sure. I work for a Natural gas company and i tell ya If any of my welders were to do **** like that, they wouldn't be working long. LOL and that ring gear and pinion. WTH was he really thinking bet he had a suprise trying to put that together. Just way to funny guys. Hope you get all that extra metal out and get her straighten out and able to drive her soon. Best of luck.

and you know the bad part of it is that the guy who did that is prolly well edgumacated and a boss at some place. atleast thats how it works at my job. the saying goes the more you screw eguipment up the faster you promote.

The very reason I shut down shop at miller time(Bud light time). I had a few mornings when I go check yesterdays progress and say WTF? Hence my motto... If you want something done right.... Do it twice! haha

You made me thow up a little! Why do people who work on other makes of cars try to work on Mopars without supervision? That car was very lucky to have escaped while still living. It has a good home now!
Good Luck!

Can we spell T-E-C-H-N-I-C-I-A-N? How about F-A-B-R-I-C-A-T-O-R?
Scamp, that's great but you have to admit, the coke cans is a prime example of real talent. Had an aluminum welding project needing done on some very thin material in Prudhoe Bay once and all the old guys tried it with not real good sucess so we had one kid,18, that had worked with his uncle welding up aluminum boats and we handed it to him and what a job. The old folks stared in utter amazment upon completion. I'm a better fitter or fabricator than a welder but i still know a hell of a lot more about it than most. Good post.
Small Block

I expect that kinda work on the Camaro, those Chevy guys have a lower standard of quality anyway. I wonder if the guy that built the Dart did the Camaro????

wow!!! is there anymore areas this great fabricator did ? must have been the same guy i knew in fla at a truck repair shop i was given a job to put side guides on a dump bed and had to leave family emergency upon my return the knuckle head welded them right to the frame rails so much for heat treated rails my boss was in awe over his wonderful acomplishment

Luckily the rear suspension is the only place that he used the welder. The rest of the car looks pretty good.

The rear of that car must be like a rock. No shackles to allow movement. Might as well put the rear solid to the frame.

That's pretty ugly stuff.

You're lucky the dude didn't have enough scraps of 2X3 to weld end-to-end or he might have replaced the springs entirely with indestructible-duty suspension that would be even more bouncy.

I've seen back-halved cars that looked like the fabricator should stick to building monster trucks, but this takes ingenuity to a new level. I wonder if he had any welding rods that didn't have the flux smashed off.

LOL Back in the day, some guys would weld the spider gears to create a locked differential. I think that the guy missed and got the R&P. LOL.

LMAO at the Camaro hole shot. Figured that no good could come of it since the car had almost no clearance between the tire and the body.

Some of the lessons I've learned came from boneheaded stuff like this, so I can't sling too much mud. Hee hee!

Well I guess that is all he had to work with.Nothing worse than a guy not giving a dam with his name on it or in this case a HACK.If you going to do it do it RIGH...........................
