Rare Cars that you didn't buy

Reading some of the posts reminded me of a car that I didn`t buy only because once I drove it I hated it. In the late 70`s or early 80`s I saw a `69 427 3x2`s 4spd. Corvette, red with black interior for sale. I think it was priced at $3000.00 and I was ready to buy it right then and there. Once I drove it my mind was made up, I thought that car was one of the biggest piles of ka-ka I`d ever driven. Gorgeous car but one huge POS.

I worked for a guy named Rick Stark for a bit, a Corvette/speed shop

A guy came in with a 68 427 tripower, 4 speed Corvette. I put a new suspension and different rear gears in it.

He cam back and asked how it drove now. I told him I wasnt going to drive his car. This was mid 90's, mint car, probably worth $60-70,000.

He says go ahead, drive it. Well, being underpriveleged, i had never driven any manual trans muscle car. The clutch was heavy as hell, practically had to stand on it.

I kept stalling the car, he says just go ahead and drop it. So i do, at about 2000 rpm, the friggen thing takes off, with me grabbing for the steering wheel.

Nice car, but to drive that you need a huge left leg and arms of steel to turn the thing. I wouldnt really want one either.
