1/ - In Australia, we only saw a very limited release of a 4BBL LA small bock from the factory......the 318 and 360 were 2BBL with the low rise intake.

for the 340 - The factory used a modified throttle / kickdown cable bracket that can't be purchased as a repop over here.

I know that Summit/Lokar make a nice bracket set up for a Holley, but that doesnt allow for the "rod" kickdown or the height I need for my AFB / LD340 combo.

Is there a factory cable bracket that will do the job?

Id like to see what sort of bracket are you using for your 904 Rod kickdown linkage and AFB throttle cable?

Pics appreciated.

I just used a setup I got from mancini. Works great easy to install and adjust. It also dosn't cost as much as locar. Hope this can help. Tom

Mal, I have in my resto thread pictures of my 318 4bbl. set up. It is a Carter AFB on top of a Edelbrock LD4B intake. The carb and 904 trans are hooked up with Lokar cables and operate without issue.

I'll surpply part numbers later. There "Kit" labeling is not correct. One would think kit means complete set up, out of package aand onto car and go. It's not.

Appreciate the pics, but I need something that will allow me to use the "connecting rod" style kickdown linkage.

Fish , where did you get that throttle valve cable to the trans ?

It's all a Lokar set up.

It required the following part numbers to complete;

TC-1000HT Throttle cable
KDP-2904HT 904 kickdown cable
SRK-4000 cable bracket and springs

Heres a shot of the parts with a home made adapter plate cut from thin aluminum since OE carbs can not use the set up as is but later Edelbrock/Federal Mougal or Holley carbs can.

Note the painted orange part places the hook up points right where the adapter brackets points are. (The adpater bracket for Holley and Edelbrock carbs that are not MoPar spec linkage.)

Rumble....

What was required to get the pedal end connected on your fish? The Lokar has that bracketed-pin type connector on pedal end... does it come off or did you have to modify your pedal?

Thanks!

My "Fish" is an E-body and runs stock equipment. Read on........

On the pedal end, the cable worked like stock. No mods made. Would you like a picture of the Dusters gas pedal? Or any other shots?

A picture of the pedal end would be great! I attached the picture of the Lokar cable from web along with the stock mopar one (round end) to emphasize my area of concern. The ?? is the part that doesn't look like a simple fit to me.

You remove the cable out of the housing and then remove the e clip on the end of the lokar cable in question. There will still be a ball end that will hold in the pedal like the original cable.

Very cool. I was hoping such, but I coudln't finsd any Lokar schematics ;-).

Thanks as always to the FABO members!

Mancini Racing sells adjustable throttle bracket kits that are designed to work with a cable kickdown. For a big block engine they also have ones that work with a rod style kickdown but for a SB your only choice is the cable setup.

Here you go bud,
This is a factory column shift 904 Dart with a 360.
These are all the original factory 318/904 parts from my 70 Dart.
The pieces are pretty easy to piece together over here. I have also seen all the parts on E-bay, if you do that sort of thing. The linkage for a 904 is actually easier to find than the linkage for a 727.

Hope this helps.

just what i need, where do i get one of those(stud)

I made an adapter bracket which bolts to the factory cable mount (cost free!)

I'll try to take a picture this weekend.

Like I did in post #7 or a different spot?

Was just a quick job but worked out well, sorry for the mess but I have not detailed the bay yet.

The bracket isn't really visible when the air cleaner is in place.

Nice work, I see a bit of car crafting in there and though you said a quick job, it's one that works. Sometimes ya gotta do this crap.
Nice heat sheild.

Thanks, I'm dying to pull the motor and detail everything (I just purchased a sand blast cabinet a few weeks ago) but have to wait till I get a room at home sheetrocked and insulated first =(

Priorities...

What year/style van or truck???

The 360 were the most common starting in 74 through 87, be warned though the kickdown setup is a lot different than the early a-body stuff.

I don't think the one piece kickdown rod will work on an a-body, no room at the firewall.

I'm working on my wifes 67 dart with 70 318 in it. Everything on this car was hacked or butchered. The sliding rod I have has been cut & welded in two places. They should have cut another inch out of it! Hacks. Anyway I would need one to fit a 70's set up. I think the one in the green car looks like what I would need to set up. Allthought after looking at the easy homemade bracket on the blue 318 I might go that route. If I come up blank at the mud pit junk yard today, I might head down to body shop to use the welder to take the other inch out. That would solve the kick down problem but I think I would still be having the problem of the cable not being clamped on metal collar. I think I need to raise bracket or use the one that mounts cable vertical clamp and get a slider with adjustments to shorten slider.

The earlier the better. I too agree that the 1 piece won't do well in an A body, but have not tried it.

You can get a new throttle cable at the parts store if they carry pioneer products. Here is a link to cable lengths.
