Srt-68 Barracuda

Initial cut-in; base coat jambs and undersides of hood and trunk. Stab all bolts into a cardboard box and spray them as well. No clear at this point. If you goof on initial cut-in, finish the repair with 400 grit.

Reassemble and align. Final block entire car.

Spray everything again in base, then clear. Then you begin sanding the damned thing again and again, starting with 800 grit. Minimum 1200 grit before you buff. You can go as high as 2000 grit before buffing if you wish.

Cool thanks. I read somewhere they did a gloss study on initial cutting of clear with 400-600-800-1000. Then flowcoat/reclearing once blocked flat. The highest gloss measured with some crazy expensive machine was the one that was cut flat with 400 then recleared. 600 and 800 where about the same. 1000 was pointless and takes too long to block out. Interesting food for thought.

Hell with your 12 coats that could work out great with the 400 to start since it is clear on clear as far as filling the 400 scratch. Probably help keep urethane wave down too I guess.

This is my first car so I think I'll maybe go 600 but would still be scared to burn through.
