My Dart runs on the hot side with the radiator I got with the puzzle it was when I bought it. Its not a 340 rad and looks to be a two core out of an earlier 318 car. With the stall converter and it being only 20 degrees Celsius it's running around 200 degrees. On one of out hot summer days I'm sure I'll over heat even with the transmission cooler. My question is will a radiator from a 1969 barracuda bolt into a 1969 Dart? I'm looking at this one on ebay but its for a 1969 barracuda.

Thanks for any input

Couldn't find the item you are referring to. I don't think Dart and Barracuda rads interchange. I could be wrong. Why not try a Mancini aluminum radiator. Very good quality.

I just picked up a 3 row aluminum radiator off of e-Bay from a seller by the name of LEDFOOTRACING. It's aboslutely beautiful, fully garranteed, and more then half the price of the Mancici's piece shipped to my door. It's all welded and has the factory mounting ears and provision for installing a factory shroud. I'm bolting mine in this afternoon. I'll post my installation.

Thats the one I was looking at but its 26" wide and my rad support has a 22" wide hole. My bottom hose is also on the passengers side. I sure like the bang for your buck with that deal.

Nice find Fastback. What's the price of that unit. Seems like i gave $190 for a tru-kool for my 440 Duster. Works good but always up for a good unit at a good price.

****, I spent almost $400 getting my original recored this past February. If you aint concerned about numbers, that piece John posted is REAL nice.
If you use a 26" rad and the rad support cutout is only 22" wide, I don't think you would have a problem with cooling, 1969GTS, BUT a fan shroud is a MUST on ANY high performance car.
Good Luck.

George

Time for reality to smack me in da face..... Damn radiator don't fit. As posted, it's 26" wide as my stocker is 22". And the shroud comes NOWHERE near fitting. But it was "only" $240 shipped to my door.

LEDFOOTRACING get's an e-mail. Let's see how this works out.

Here we go with the exchange/replacement dance. Wish me luck....

I have a 67 barracuda and I bought a radiator from ledfoot .It was for a bigblock 26". 4 new holes and it fit in perfect .The battery tray is still in the car.My freind has a Mancini aluminum radiator and sent it back to get a ledfoot radiator. Mark

According to my interchange manual they will work between 1969 Barracuda,
69 Dart, and 69 Valiant.

318 With out a/c or max cooling 19" width part #2949031

318 with a/c 22" width part# 2949067, max cooling 22" part " 2949068

340 without a/c 22"width part #2949066

340 with a/c 22" width part #2949068, max cooling same part#

Someone else may have more info.

Hope this helps

Tom

Why would you expect a shroud from a 22" radiator to fit onto a 26" radiator?
Thats not the fault of the seller, its the law of physics. Go to the junkyard and
look for a 70's-early 80's Ram and get the shroud off of one.

How do these cool?
i saw a nice one that will fit in my 65 yet was listed as a chevy or ford if i recall...

Wow Edbux, thanks for the positive comment! Next time I'm gonna do something I'll consult with you, the physics major!

Yeah, I made a mistake (apparently un-common with some members....) and I fessed-up to it. Ledfootracing took it back with no drama at all. Unfortunately they do not sell a 22" radiator, so I ordered one from Year One after being told it was a drop-in replacement. After 2 weeks and 3 notices saying it's on it's way I call Year One and now I find out it could take as long as 6-8 WEEKS before I see it. And the Damn factory shroud will NOT fit either after being told it will. So, I'm still scrambling to find a replacement unit.

Any suggestions Edbux, or anyone else, besides a smart-*** answer? With all the help I provide I expect better from some of you guys.... :angry7:

A 26 inch radiater may keep it cool enough without a shroud.
If thats one of those reproduction 22 inch shrouds you dont want it anyway.
They melt. Used OEM 26 inch shrouds are more abundant and less expensive.
By the way, a member here has a very nice 22 inch OEM radiater in the for sale section

I have one of the newest versions of that shroud. We'll see how long it lasts. As for the 26" radiator, it fills the radiator support from frame rail to frame rail, leaving no room for my recovery tank. Plus a good portion of that core is blocked by the support. Cutting my freshly painted and detailed car is NOT an option, nor is "junkyard" parts.

I'll get it sorted out. It just burns my *** to get some in-frequent poster giving me an attitude. Simple physics my ***... I wonder what HIS car looks like with those junkyard parts.... :angry7:

Weeeellll shoot lets see... Even though some of the core is covered by the support, air will still pass through it so you really dont need to cut anything.
The 26 inch holds more water too. What coolant tank ? Your car shouldn't have one if your all about correctness.
On a positive note , the longer it takes you to settle on a radiater, the longer that shroud will last :)

The radiators sold by ledfootracing on eBay are manufactured by Champion Cooling Systems. Champion also sells through a couple of other eBay sellers.
I called Champion directly and asked about a 22" core radiator for an A-body and was told they're currently in development and should be available mid-July.
PM me if you're interested in a possible "group buy" and I'll check with them to see if they can offer any discount on a direct purchase group buy.

Believe me Redfish, my car is FAR from "correct", but the 26"-er was just too big. Not to mention I have a $150 shroud I just bought. I know the longer I search, the longer I won't be driving my car. The recovery tank is aftermarket, but I need it. I'll have my radiator repaired (again....) and wait and see what happens with Year One. If I don't see a radiator sometime next week, I'll cancel my order.

Hey... it only took me 10 years to get this far. What's another month or so? :-D
