The Truth about 318s

My 318 has very low comp,8.0.1 around there.
It wiped a lobe an dont know what sort of stick it had in it
but it had something alright. replaced it with one with 474 lift
an it went backwards,still went ok but not as hard as it did.
Its got an offy manifold,shithouse 2 inch exhaust system,some sort
of aftermarkets headers,650 holley double pumper,holly red fuel
pump an untouched heads.
My car weighs 1480 kg,3.23 lsd in the rear,its manual an she
goes 14.5 on the quarter at 93 mph.

Cant complain really,been like that for 5 years,
doesnt have a rev limiter an GOD knows how many times
ive over buzzed her.

The truth about 318's is,ive had that car an motor longer
than any car my freinds have had,an have spent the least
on it on maintance an been trouble free.

If they only made a 318 diesel,you couldnt kill it i rekon an
it would never neeed a rebuild lol.

They certainly are anvil like in thier ability to endure punishment.I have yet to kill one.

Diesel 318 would have been a bad idea.I think G.M failed miserably with thier attempt to convert a small block to diesel.
