I have been looking at all the front spoilers available on the market and none of them did it for me. They were either too narrow or didn't go with the lines of the car. So I put one together that mirrors the bumper, is 3" tall and goes from wheel to wheel.
Let me know what you think.

Thats different. Would like to see what it looks like with the whole car painted

That's more than a mere spoiler; that's a front air dam.

you asked.i,ll be honest. i think it looks too big, something like a mel gibson road warrior thing for pushing people out of the way.

i agree, or some ricer thing but i do admire your work and craftsmanship you are a talented guy

did you watch mad max as a kid? nice work though.

ok. i'm going to go halfway here. i like the spoiler, excellent fab work. but not sure on the bumper. once the car is done,i think it will look way roadrace! i am thinking that is what you are after? i'm not a purist,so it's all good!

maybe if you fill in the license plate spot? itll look much better..and if possible raise the bumber a little bit?

First of all thank yall for the feedback.
Yes I still have to buy another bumper in order to get pieces to fill in the center section and graft the end caps back on.

As far as pushing people out of the way,OK in spite of the fact it extends no further than the bumper, This is TEXAS so it would be a chebby/ford/rice catcher, cows on motorcycles are so pase.
Flipping the bumper was the easy part because the mounts were set up symmetrically, however getting rid of the vertical offset built into the mounts raises a ton of problems.

Yes road-race is where I'm going with this and the fun is just beginning.

Now on to Mel's ride---Tell me, will air pass through a roots style blower when its not turning. I've always wondered about the ability to switch a clutch for such an application? And yes I would love to drive that aroun Austin for a while :-D

"Now on to Mel's ride---Tell me, will air pass through a roots style blower when its not turning"

I had to laugh when I read this---- Remembering when I was at the theater when "Road Warrior" movie came out and at the "engagement" of the blower the collective voices of all the "gearheads" in the crowd whispering "That's Bulls**t

I'm just gunna be blunt... I thinks its ugly. I mean I give you credit for trying, but its DEFINATELY not my cup of tea.

I like the looks of the spoiler, pretty cool. You said it was easy to flip the bumper? I think I would flip it back over and see what the spoiler looks like with the bump rightside up? You might end up with the look you were trying to get without having the bumper upside down, really nice spoiler though. What is made of?

I think you should see what it looks like without the bumper flipped. I think the bumper is what is ruining the look.

First of all, I thought Mel's rig was just hollywood crap but I thought I would ask.

As far as the material the spoiler is made from, its 20ga steel.
Someone I know donated sixty square feet of material for the project, and someone else lent me his mig welder for a short while. This accounts for the push to get as much sheet metal and welding work done as quickly as possible.

Petty- nothing happened except more progress, thanks for the concern.

I know there will be those who do not like where Im going with the Missile but when the whole package is put together it will be a mean looking car with one hell of a paint job. Im sure there will be many more parts that will please some and not please others. Thatnk for both sides of the feed back.

there is web sites and clubs deticated to the interceptor mad max cars and alot of the replicas have a swichable blower i dont know if it is functonal but its not hard to imagine some type of open plentum that closes once the switch is flipped and it starts building boost......... do i belive it NO but it is a thought

I like the spoiler, I bet it'll actually be pretty functional as an air dam for the front. But the bumper is killing me! I think the spoiler, and the whole front end of the car, will look better with it right side up.

I think it looks interesting (and I'm a die hard Duster purist). I think it would look better if you took some of that left over 20Ga. and filled in the sides and bottom of the bumper to finish it off.

right its the bumper i dont like.the spoilers growing on me.hot rod dare to be different here he comes. lol

I actually looked at it again after reading some peopels comments and I actually see that the spoiler isnt whats making me not like it. Like everyone else said, I think its the bumper that makes it look odd. Either way I'll keep my eye on it... would look better in shiny paint too probably
