Help Needed!!!

now the problem...in first gear this morning there was a slight grinding nosie that got louder in second..then went away in third. shifting into second the noise came back then completely disengaged and could not get into anygear it just kept grinding in all finally somehow by the grace of god got it into third and managed to not need to downshift till i got to work....please help

Is the noise there while in gear, or only when you depress the clutch to shift?
If only when the clutch pedal is depressed, then yes, I agree it's probably a throw out bearing that finally locked up.

BUT, you mention it got quieter in 3rd, which tells me something totally different, meaning there's internal damage and not being able to shift supports that theory, too.

Check your fluid level, those "oil spots" you may have noticed on the pavement probably aren't just engine oil.
