Name is Mike, I'm 18 and currently have my Daily Driver 72 Barracuda (see sig/link). I've owned that about a year and a half or so now. I just boughta 1974 Duster to make a daily driver outta it and retire the B'Cuda from that.

Its a 225 slant, bone stock. Had a/c but i took it out, no time to mess with it right now to get it working. It was last registered in 1986, so shes been off the road for awhile. Has white bucket seats, floorshift w/console auto, flip-down backseat, trunk dressup deal. Interior isnt in too bad of shape.

Plenty of pics of the b'cuda on that page. And here are a couple of the duster from when i got it.

Howdy,
the Duster, and the 225 were both great,
and dependable!

If the car has been parked a long time, be sure to check hoses belts
and fluids often.

Yep, it fired up when i got it. Then i tore it apart. New water pump, fuel pump, hoses, belts, carb, wires, plugs, etc. etc. So hopefully it will be pretty darn reliable. And just sip gas compared to my 3.91 geared b'cuda..

"Welcome. Looks like a good daily driver. I see it has Calif plates. what part of calif are you in"

Actually the car was last registered in California, tags expired in 1986 :silent: Before i was even born . I live in Henderson, Nevada. And the car was here locally.

"Isn't your name supposed to be "GoodysgotaDuster"?

Howdy!"

GoodysGotaDuster wouldnt fit in the username so goodysgotacuda had to do

Welcome aboard Mike. Yep, the slant 6 was one of the best engines ever built. They just ran and ran and ran..Terry.

Wecome Mike, memike from Arkansas here, My youngest son Creed just kicked me for selling every cuda Ive ever owned.Glad to see a young man makeing some good choises of cars, Injoy your self . there is a good group of oldfarts here with lots of exp. :thumblef:

Welcome over from Moparts Mike. I followed your woes with your Cuda over there and was glad to see you got everything straightened out with it. :drinkers: You'll enjoy yourself here, and that was a good find on the Duster.

haha, yea shes all straightened out. Been runnin daily for a couple months now, goin stong. I still think i can crack 13s with the 318, the 2000ft elevation knocks off roughly 4/10ths, so im not too sure on that :thumblef:

You should be able to score a 13 sec time slip with that 318, mostly a matter of timing and dialing everything in correctly. When you go to the strip, have a notebook and keep detailed records of EVERYTHING that changes from run to run and from week to week, including carb jetting, tire pressure, starting line technique, etc. Sometimes you end up going backwards and can't quite figure out why, and the notebook takes the guess work out of the equation. I know what you mean about the heigh problem, my track is a little over 2800 feet altitude. Keep poking at it and you'll get there. :)

Thanks, good idea on keepin track. I was expecting to just kinda tinker around and see what works without keeping track. but it does make sense to see what helped and what didnt. There have been alotttta people that said I wouldnt be able to crack 13s with the 318. I think after some tuning and technique i can get it in there. Traction will probably be an issue off the line (3.91s, low gear set in the trans, and radials). but i gotta do what i can with what i got :thumblef:

:salut: You everywhere Mahn :thumblef:

wow it works.. it works... so how's do ya log out?

Goody, try letting your air pressure down to about 20 lbs or less in the radials, then do a short burnout with a little water or bleach, and check for a nice even black patch the full width of your tire. Keep playing with the pressure until there's no light spots anywhere in the tread pattern. If it's lighter in the middle, you need more air, and if it's lighter on the outside of the burn mark, then you need less air. Also, try just hitting about half throttle for the first few feet before mashing the pedal to the metal. That one took me a long time - just wanted to floor that sucker immediately. :)

Sounds good. The amount of throttle off the line I gotta get down. On the street i dont mash it off the line, (in a secluded area) i try to kinda roll on it, but apparently i do it too fast and i break the tires loose :salut:. I gotta tinker with how i do that :thumblef:

hay Mike,I see you are getting some good advice here at A bodies only.now just how many Mike's do we have here??. real nice rides you've got there. Don't let them radials slap the pavement ok. :bball:
A all the way :thumblef:
