Hey guys,

I know this question has been asked before a bunch of times...i have hedmans and need to buy some wires...was going to buy a universal mallory set and cut them down...my question is, should i buy a 90 degree, 45 degree or straight boot set of wires? I know that for cylinders 5 and 7 i will need the 90 degree boots and will have to run them under the headers as opposed to in between (if im wrong on that someone please correct me) but id like to know what angle, if any, i need for the rest of the plugs

thanks!
Matthew

You want 90* end on the # 5 and 7 plugs to keep them of the pipes.

The rest can use straight boots.

sweet! thanks adam...is it better to buy a universal set and cut them down to size ya think?

Yes.

I used the yellow accel wires but put 90 degree ends on the two as described above.
I left the large boots on them in addition to the 90 degree ends I put on so that the wires would have extra protection in those areas and also look like the rest of them.

I tried putting the slip on heat socks there but they were too small of a diameter to slide over the boots.

I usually cut my own. I have a MSD crimping tool that makes it easy. Buy a set of wires with straight boots and just buy 2 90* ends

cool guys thanks for the info! and thanks for the pics spaz! love that engine bay!

sorry to resurrect this, but im looking into these 90 degree boots now and im not sure which ones to get..i ordered accel wires that are suppression core and 7mm....the only boots that i can find on summit are msd ones...one of them does not say what size wire they are for and also says not suppression type, so imassuming i cant use that one....the other msd one is not suppression type as well but it says its for 8.5mm wires and im thinking that will be too big....what should i do? get different wires? i got the accel wires because they were cheap and not solid core (I cant use solid core wires with my ignition box)

I Always Use A Set Of Taylor Straight End Boot Universal Set & Buy Two 45 Degree Wires From Taylor. The 45 Degree Boots On #5 & #7 Will Bring The Wires Straight Up From The Plugs & Away From The Header Tube. To Me, It Looks Better Than Routing Them Under The Header Tube. I Know Its A Little Extra Cost, But If Your Going First Class, Thats The Way To Go.
