What are some signs that the hobby is getting expensive?..

My favorite line in craigslist ads is "Would be real nice with a little work". Or maybe "Only needs the mirrors bolted back on and seats installed to be worth ten times as much as I'm asking but I have run out of time/energy to finish". Usually associated with a slant 6 75 Valiant 4 door.
