This may be a stupid question, but how do you guys cut your exhaust pipes?

I am installing a complete system, but the head pipes need to be cut to custom length to meet up w/ the headers. It's 3" pipe.

For the record, I don't have a metal-cutting radial saw or anything like that. I guess a pnuematic cutter disc would work, but my bro has my compressor. Any other easy ways to cut it?

I just searched and see that there is that chain-type cutting tool out there. Anybody use these - do they work well? Also, what local store might have those in stock?

The tool companys make a chain style cutter. check with the part stores. They may carry them also. I have one that I
use at work. It gives a very clean cut. Or you could use a hack
saw.

Yeah, I have a sawzall, but I want clean, straight cuts. Looks like I'm going to go with the chain tool, but am still trying to find a local store that may carry them - any suggestions?

Tractor Supply, Fleet Farm, should have 'em in stock. Crapsman or your auto parts store should be able to order one in for you. And, yes, they do work great. Lightly oil the cutters, though. A quick squirt of WD40 keeps 'em moving.

Trick for using a sawsall is to use masking tape or electrical tape as a guide. Just wrap the tape all the way around and use the edge as a guide.

sazall ...safty glasses

chain style are great

Thanks guys - I used the chain-style one and it worked perfectly. Now I have to figure out how the hell to get the head pipes to meet up with the headers - of course, it looks like it's not going to match up without bending the pipe - something I won;t be able to do. I just don;t want to have to take the car to a muffler shop to pay for something I should be able to do in my garage.
