Hey can people go check there 73-74 Duster and tell me what style of weather strip the trunk seal is ? Is it the "D" style thats about 1/2" thick ? Or is it supposed to be the flatter style like Metro sells ? I have conflicting information and dont know which I should have. Installed the "D" style and man... I cant shut the trunk lid at all. I mean... it wont even latch. I am afraid to adjust the lid hinges more cuz then the lid body lines will be way off... I assume I need the flatter style... anyone anyone ??? (its been like a million years since I took the old stuff off and cant remember !)

I have a 1972 duster and my trunk weather striping is worn out but it appears to me to be the flatter style you mentioned. I think the deck lids are the same in my 72 as what your looking for so it should be the same thing. good luck!

I put the Metro stuff on about two years ago, never a problem getting it to close and seal, no leaks either. This was to replace the factory (I think) D-style stuff that was all torn up. I don't know which is correct, as in restoration, but the Metro stuff works great.

Im not sure exactly, but YEAR ONE I belive has the correct kit.

thanks for the responses... still not any confirmation.....I think the metro style is prob what I need.... anyone else ?

I will look at my 73 this afternoon and get back to you what I have - but from memory, I think it's a flat-type seal.

i have a 74 duster and a 75 dart sport ,both are original and unrestored. they both have the d weather striping on the trunk. maybe try adjusting the latch.

thanks for the input.. I tried some adjustments with the latch and hinges... still no go. I mean unless I sit on the trunk lid it isnt going to happen... I cant remember where I got this weatherstrip cuz it has been so long ago. Thanks for the info though.. much appreciated.

Not trying to hijack post , but I have the exact same problem as RPM ... Any one post some pics of their trunk seals ?

thanks dave

My '72 has the Metro rubber. Fits great, no leaks. Is it original? Don't know. In my case, I don't really care, either. You could call it flat, but it's actually V-shaped and squashes when you close the trunk. I THINK I had something similar on mine from the factory, but it is a '72...

I bought CH 1005, same as MP 1005. Package says soff seal. Can't remember where I bought it on-line, but still have the old one (haven't installed it yet) but it is exactly like the old one. It could have been Legendary.
