Beleave me I won over 20 of these way back in the day, But I kept my first one :happy10:
I gave away over half of them to children at the track and made there day :happy10:
But this one was the first and I was driving J stock class"steal manifolds four barrel automatic" 70 Barracuda and flagged by George him self, like an arm drop but he used a flag.
I found this when I was looking for parts at the old home place for Joe "ramcharger" auction.
I cleaned it up and put it on a shelf here in the living room.
Just thought I would share a blast from the past. I would think it was over 25 years ago, I almost forgot where it was 8)

Looks good cleaned up memike. Way to go in the 70 Barracuda. You deffinitally have some history at George Rays.

This is Creed's my yongest sons trophy he won at 13 years old at a talent contest :happy10:
He was a dandy guitar player and blew the high school away 8)8)
Over 30 contestants all older 8)
You can imagine how the crowed reacted when the little boy carried a Mexican strat fender on stage that was as big has he was and played willy the wimp by SRV . Yep I cleaned it up and put it up so he can see it when he comes to visit.
All these old memories sure can make an old fart count his blessings :love7:

When I moved here to meet my father in 76 I did not know anyone and herd about a drag strip where the babe's hung out at and you could enjoy a cold one and watch some racing homecloned :happy10:
My fastest pass was a 7.14 in another man's car as back up driver and hung out there and made so many great memories =P~ yep it was a chebby and I had a good light and experienced, Some great times for sure !!

Just from the pics G. Rays looks like a blast.
I don't have any of my first trophy but do have some of my last award. It was bowling not racing. Pretty dusty.

So Creed is a drummer now? What the hell happened to get him off track?

What do you call a guy that hangs out with a bunch of musicians?

A drummer.

Just kidding Mike but I gotta get a drummer joke in when I can. ;)

Very nice Trophy Mr. Mike.
Never could get one of those, I always ended up braking something, taking me out of the running.

Nice trophy mike!
I have more for fishing back in the day I realy haven't kept up with them as you can see. 8) Thank you.

That's about the truth ain't it lmao  He still playes the guitar and is doing something at a wedding by his self :love7: solo and sing a song for a friend that is getting hitched 8)

very nice memike, ain't nothin like the first one!!
I was happy I found it, It sure was dusty and old , now I have it all cleaned up along with Creeds old one.

Very nice Trophy Mr. Mike.

They don't do trophies any more I think, or he said he was going to quit messing with them, The J stock class is just a good fast driver and pays $50 I think know. But there is allot of 10 second cars there that brake out or spin leaving the light. I think I can get Victoria in the low tens 1/8 with my slant when I am dun. at 2.700 lbs it's got a good chance I would think, All fun

Cool Mike! There is nothing better than the first one. :) I bet you remember what kind of car you were racing against too.

I still have my trophies. You know, the whole "Glory Day" thing, lol. I suppose I should drag them out of the basement and clean them up a bit.

That`s cool Mike and giving your other trophies to the kids to make them feel good sure was a nice way to spread the good cheer around. I still have one from 1973, I`ll have to dig out. It was really made of marble, steel, and brass, unlike what they give away today. Check this out: this is a trophy that I picked up recently at an ALL MOPAR show. Look at the car on top and tell me what it is. Lol!!!

71,72 Mack 1 Mustang 8) Or am I just close :-D
Back in the day it was good to see the kids and the little ones around our racing friends and they sure enjoyed getting a trophy on the day they was there, I like putting a smile on the little one's and I bet the young gun's still have them
The same here, I and my two young men sons have boxes full of fishing to a big pile of moto cross trophy's and awards collecting dust :toothy10:

How close did I get on the trophy ?

Real close pettyblue, it`s a 1970 Mustang- Mach1 (two headlights). Lol! That wasn`t fair of me, I should`ve showed you a front view. That was at an all Mopar show too. I think everybody got a good laugh out of it though.
I got to your First post and hit quote :-D

Sure was some good old time racing :happy10:
He had the gear and I had the head's to get down the track.
small swirl J heads. If I hade the gear he had :bootysha:the chebby would have had to go home with out a winners sheet and trophy most of the time.
Know that I am thinking about it there was at Tempest that took us booth out a few times :-D so much fun
