Turning a 74 into a 72

Just got done repairing the spare tire well on the 74. Noticed some rust and figured out the bottom of the well was rotted out.



SO I started out by cutting the bottom out with my handy 3" high speed cutting tool



Then cut the good one out of the 72 and put it in place with my butt joint clamps.



Next I searched on FABO to see the best way to go about welding it up.
This is the first time welding sheet metal for me. Sure glad I have a good grinder! :cheers:



Lastly used a little filler sanded it off smooth and shot some primer on it.



I have a couple more small spots to fix in the trunk and then I'll put the 72 tail panel on. More to come........................
