Okay race guys, can you fill me in on some of the various smallblock stroker combos and answer a few questions in regard to them?
What is the largest displacement engine that can be made with a Mopar smallblock?

1) stock 340 block
2) stock 360 block
3) performance block

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the various blocks and sizes?
Can stock heads still be used productively without extensive work?
What kind of numbers will these combos produce with modest components?

Thanks for your input.- John

I heard with an x block you can do at least 452 but it sounds like you can go bigger.

Got a friend building a 500" SB mopar.

Hows he doing that?
Whats he using :S

Biggest ive heard or read about was around the 450 mark
using a mopar block with a deck height of 9 odd inches.

I recently saw a book advertised for building smallblock strokers and they spoke of a 470 something with an aftermarket block but they gave no more pertinents on the build.

IF you were really serious about getting BIG inchs out of your small block, you could add to the deck height with --for lack of better words but it paints the picture well enuff,--- adding height like a torque plate welded on.

This extra deck height would allow a MoPar crank to be cut down for use of a Chevy rod adding more stroke. OH and longer rods.

IF you can add height, the next issue is bore size.

Bore size has a limit. How far can a race block go before it's too late. Add block filler for stregth so you can bore farther. What is the max?

NOW! Who has money to throw at this problem? Anybody have an inside to goverment funds? HEY! If they can spend $500 on a hammer back in the 80's..........

Can't we get some stimulus funds and do some reasearch? You know, for fuel mileage increases with larger displacement engines designed for large transport vehicles code named "A Bodies". :thumblef:

I could be wrong, was it 9 inch deck height or 9 inch bore.
I tottaly forgot.
Il keep my mouth shut til i wake up in the morning an
know exactly whaat im talking about lol.

Sleep typing,is a curse :toothy10:

Indy is offering a 472 crate small block. 4.2" bore and a 4.25" stroke. The siamese bore blocks will take a 4.2" bore and probably will go to 4.25" but there isn't a head gasket for that bore size. Yet. The Blowtie people are pushing 500 inches with a tall deck aftermarket block that has a 9.6" deck height which is our stock height. Frustrating ain't it?

someone on another forum i visit from time to time, has a 501 on the way, but it seams like that is realy pushing it, very few heads can realy suport that in a good way...
i think a 408 or 416 is realy the max that has a real meaning with stock heads since its hard to make them realy move enough air to turn any rpm...
i may have got this all backwards but im fairly sure...

for me i have another solution with twinscrew blower forcing air into just 345cui and it will hopefully make enough power to not need more cubes for a while

I turned a 318 into a 672 and used stock heads. It made 1075 h.p. and 3000 ft. lbs. torque............O wait, I was dreaming!!
