Twenty years ago, when I work as an "in house" die maker, we had style of punch that was approx 6 inches long and 1.5 inches high, and was .3750 thick +.0000 -.0001, these were hand lapped on a surface plate with diamond lapping compound. Ask my fingers how they can remember this :)
