Mopar 8 3/4 or Ford 9?

OK lets leave the hater messages at the door.

I'm building up my 76 Duster. The plan is to have a small block (360 stroked) and a 727. I'm working on planning out the chassis and suspension right now.

I have an RMS Street Linx kit. Which means no more leaf springs. The plan is minitub or tub the rear so I can run some 15x10 rims. I'm planning on some 3.5 or 4.5" backspacing on those. As for rubber, no sure yet.

I picked up a Ford 9" axle for $100. It's complete but needs to be narrowed to fit in the Duster as well as run 15x10 with small backspacing. The center section is open and have a crappy gear (2.75), so that needs to be changed as well.

I've been reading about narrowing the axles and found SW Racecars and Moser sell Mopar 8 3/4" housing ends.

My questions and such come from what I have and what I want. Right now my car has an 8 1/4" rear end. If I used the 8 3/4" housing ends on the Ford 9" will the brake parts mount from the 8 1/4" onto the new axle? If not I've seen Mopar 8 3/4" backing plate and such. So that solves that problem.

My next question would be, since I'm newer to rwd, Is it possible to run axles with the 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern with a Ford 9" with 8 3/4" ends?

Like I said I'm mearly trying to plan this all out so I don't waste money here and there. I've been watching for a Mopar 8 3/4" rear housing and found one locally from a C-body which would need to be narrowed as well. I'm just trying to figure out which way is the best way for me.

I'm guessing the 8 3/4" rear would the easiest to get to work. Buy a complete rear end, narrow it and use new mopar 8 3/4" ends and use the brakes that came with it. Unless of course the C body 8 3/4" is junk?

Thank you in advance.
