Has anyone tryed 235/60/15's on the front of a duster/dart sport on a 15-7 4.25 backspace. I have 225/50/15 on mine right now and they are just to short for my liking. Where is the first place they will touch if they are too tall?

It was to wide for me, it even bent my 1/4 panel on both sides. The tire actually stuck out past the 1/4 panel. I had a 3" backspace so 4.25 might be better? I wouldn't count on it though.

That 1.25" backspacing is a huge difference. That make the tire stick out 1.25" more.

Even though 235/60/15 on 15x7 4.25" backspacing rims is a tight fit. And your results will very depending on factory tolerances, past collisions, alignments.... 225/60/15 would be slightly safer bet. Still, you need to check it very close and have someone watch it close as you back out and turn from a driveway. You can clip the front bottom edge of the wheel lip for clearance. Or if you have a bottom front support brace, you can push it all the way out or redrill the hole to push it out.

I think A-bodies with front lower valences don't have the support brace.

So your saying that the lower front edge of the fender is the first to rub? I have 255's on the rear I will put one on the front and do some checking.

yea dude. That doesn't work.

Here is a picture with 235/60/14's

and 255/60/15's
neither of which work. You can see how it dented the front lip, and that was with the 14's.

well yea. that is why I had to go with a smaller width tire AND rim in front. I have now 215's and they are fine. That's just how these Dusters were built for whatever reason?

FWIW, I have 225/50-16's on the front with 8" wheel with 4.5" backspace. The points that have the least clearance is the leading lower corner of the fender and the mounting tab/bolt at the rear. They just tuck in at the top. I may go to a slightly narrower combo in front.

It will rub super big time because you have only 3.5" of backspacing. The rim moves the tire out 1" more than it absolutely has to. With 15" rims the max backspacing is 4.5".

4.75" backspacing with 15" rims is really pushing it and will probably be ok with the fabricated upper control arms because there is tiny bit less of a lip about the ball joint.
