Fern was a find! LOL!! We had been cutting back on everything due to everything! ABodyBetty had squirelled away some 5 bucks somehow for her new computer. With white death on it's way and BOF running 4 weeks broke down 2 ongoing, We needed spare ride. Not finding anything and bairley missing out on 75 valliant 2 door $750, I talked yard dawg to hauling me, him, cummins, & hauler 20 miles away to see the ugliest fairlane (65) I ever saw, (SPARE ME THE WISE CRACKS GUYS, DESPERATE TIMES & MEASURES!!) LOL!!!
We got there & the ex body shop owner who said it was solid, was totally rust. I said "No sir When I said I'd sleep on it, I was beeing polite".
(him) "Where's you're buddie going"
(ME) "He knows I'll never be able to spend the wifes money on a piece of crap like that!
(HIM) I'll let you have it for 400

I had hood up, doors open, before Yard Dawg even caught up! He said someones goin ta shoot us! I told him to stand close to the car, they wouldn't dare!!

Didn't think we would hear a thing for at least a few months if at all, yet I couldn't stop thinking of her. 3 days later the call came. Then 1 week more calls, back & forth, Money? no not alot, but he wants way too much (so would I).
Finally on Sunday worked out a great barter + only shucked 2 bucks to boot!
She even drove over to our house on her own! (Delivered) I wanted them to drive it, I had only seen the car for 2 min. while the Dawgs Cummins was blocking the road!
Ferns old Dad is happy, as well as me & wifey. Drives good, needs tie rod end, muffler, ex manifold, speedo, rust/paint.
ABodyBetty already loves her and hasn't even driven her yet!!!:love7:

It hardly ever happens to us, and this one came home on it's own cause we didn't have any REAL money for a safety car!
