Duster was totalled

-
I was maybe a mile from where that was yesterday morning. I'm really sorry to hear, and I hope you're okay. I know from firsthand experience how a rear-ender while sitting can be very painful for the car and the person. Get checked out in a week.

Geezuz. Sorry to see this, but very glad that you and the boy were unhurt.

Its a testimony to how well these cars were made back then, that you guys walked away.

I echo the sentiments here.

I had a run in with a drunk driver a couple weekends ago.....I was at a pizza shop and this drunk comes driving into the lot and picks a fight with a guy.....apparantly some long standing issue....anyways the drunk coldcocks the other guy once but then got his clock cleaned til the end.....then he tried to get in his truck and drive off...luckily we had already been on the phone with the cops and they got him a 1/4 mile down the road, if that.

I'm glad you and your son are okay. Fortunately, you're still here to tell us about it!

Those are hard photos to look at, but that car gave everything to protect both of you!

It's accidents like this that make me want to put shoulder belts in all my cars, FRONT AND REAR

Man , that sucks....just glad you and your son are doing good ! drunk drivers will never learn........ Good luck !!!!!!!!

Those pics made my stomack turn.

I hope you get compensated dearly for this and I also hope the judge makes an example out of the drunk driver.

Guys, bite your tongues and don't make any stupid internet threats.

Agreed, but its a sad state of our society when a drunk driver who almost kills two people can get off because of peopel on the web expressing their anger at him.

Great to know you and your son are OK but this is a really sad story. Any help on the next build sure you´ll find it around here. Best of luck!

I'm glad that you and your son are ok. Be sure and get checked out for residual/hidden injuries that don't show up immediately. You always end up with some kind of loss when something like this happens, I hope yours is not severe.
Good luck!

Russell it just makes me sick to my stomach to see those pic of your beautiful car all beat up like that. Cars are replaceable and human life isn't, so just be thankful you and your son are O.K.

The important thing is you and your son are OK. This story could have been so much worse.

Sorry to hear about the accident. You handled it much better than I would have, props!
I have absolutely no pity for people that mess with other peoples stuff or who drive under the influence, period.

Thank god you two are alright!

Just wondering....do you have receipts/documentation of what you have into the car?

Or an appraisel of its worth, better yet?

The reason I ask is that to most judges, your Duster is gonna be just another old car. Some added value due to its antiquity, but you will have to prove its condition and worth.

Court is all about being made whole -- not getting a windfall....the good attorneys will be able to put a $ figure to your pain, suffering, invonvenience etc. And to be made whole you will need proof.
(yeah, I watch a lot of "people's court" and "judge judy"...LOL) :read2:

You have your health and that is everything. I can totally relate to losing it all, particularly the Mopar in your life- but at the end of the day we are what make these cars great so thank God you are still breathing enough to take on another project. My heart goes out to you and your family.

glad you and your son are alright...
i have seen your car before ( i cant remember where but i do recognize it)..
i am sorry for your loss..
my dads pride and joy 1973 charger was destroyed in 1994 and it rolled over his legs before it almost went over an embankment ... so i know how it feels to lose a loved one(the car that is).....

Russell, I haven't been on a lot since returning from the show and just saw this. I don't know what to say. I just feel very bad for you (especially after the chat you, I, ocdart & hawaiiduster had on the show field). When the time is right, let me know if there's anything I can help with. As others have expressed, I am happy that there weren't any serious injuries.

I really Hate to see that your car was totalled out. At least you and your son where O.K.! Hopefully everything will work out and your car can be replaced.

Ugh, that is bad! The good thing is you and your son got out of it with so little injury. Companies generally carry relatively good and comprehensive insurance coverage on their fleet vehicles for incidents just like this. Hopefully you`ll be able to find another clean Duster and make it even better.

My ex-wife and son were almost killed by a drunk driver in 1991. He totalled my 70 Duster.

My ex was hurt and her eardrum exploded. The bright point was this freaking drunk decided to fight the cops and she said they kicked his *** on the side of the road.

On Labor Day weekend this year, my daughters boyfriend and his dad were at Atlanta Motor Speedway and they were crossing the road. Along came a speeding DRUNK and hit his dad. He was badly hurt but will be OK-eventually after a lot of therapy and healing.

Good luck.

Here's some more photos of rlk340's Duster that he just sent to me:
