I have heard it can be done. I have also heard that there are two groups of people. Those that will do it and those that will absolutely not. Something about the spindle being like an 1/8th inch shorter on the top or something. Either way I know where I can get a whole set of Aspen disks and spindles and such so if someone could please give me some mire advice on the situation and the pros and cons and possible hazards and if you have done it and what snags you encountered.

Thanks

jeff

I have been told on here via pm by someone I can't remember that F body discs do work on A bodies, but I also would like to hear more from people on it as I know where there's a ton of F bodies.

I have done this swap, The f body spindle is TALLER, but not by much. If you are worried about it, leave the torsion bar unloaded after you install the spindles, and run it through full travel. What you want to look out for is over-angling the upper ball joint at full compression. It was fine on my 70 Duster.

I dont think you can do that. The hole your ball joint goes in is tapered, so I would think it would screw that up.

the F, M,J and late B body spindle is 3/8" taller. It is an excellent upgrade to the old drum brakes on any A or B body. The 3/8" makes no significant difference in the geometry and will not "over angle" the upper balljoint. Do the math on the change in angle, its very small. You'll need 73-76 A body upper control arms and 73-76 lower balljoints to go with the spindles, etc. from the F, M,J or late B. Its a very nice inexpensive single piston caliper set-up.
I know of dozens of people who have used this swap (including myself) on their A bodies and a couple on early B's with no problems or adverse effects. I have also sold a bunch of these set-ups without a single issue.

Bad *** man I appreciate it. I am not on the BBD website. Also what part of Washington are you from? I am originally from Spokane. I am currently stationed in the San Diego area but am looking forward to getting out of here soon.

Thanks again

Jeff

I did this swap to a '65 Barracuda with no problems. I used brake hoses from '74 duster with the calipers up front.

I just read the whole article off of Big Block Dart that 70Duster440 sent me and everything that they put on there seemed as though it works great and there are no problems at all man. There is an Aspen at the Junk yard I am going to rip everything off of this Friday if its there.... All you people that live near me that are on this site stay away or I will kill....... LOL jk.

I'm in Wenatchee. Thanks for your military service!

i think i saw somewhere they made drop spindles for f bodies to so that could be sweet lol. maby if they are custom made you could get them made 3/8" shorter then f bodies so there would be zero issue possible
