how much a quart tho?

I break in a new engine/cam by coating the lobes and lifters with the cam makers paste, then add one 16 oz bottle of GM Engine Oil Supliment to a fill of 10-30 oil. Normal oil changes after that get 4 oz of the EOS.

I use the paste on every build I ever did back in the day Charrlie_S

EOS= ??? Thank you sir :happy10: Engine oil supplement ?

I've been using Motor Oil Additive or MOA made by BG products for years in my 9sec. racecar and daily drivers with great results. Bearings and lifters look like new when I freshened the motor in the racecar. Good Luck with what ever you use. Tom

I too use the GM- EOS....Thanks to Charrlie. Never a problem. Only difference is I use Mobil 1 Full Syn oil. I even use it after cam break in and NO ring seating problems.
Frank
PS the RETAIL price on the GM-EOS is $19.95 per bottle.

Have been using that for years good stuff!

most cam manufacturers will tell you to NOT use synthetic oil on a flat cam, while it is recommended for a roller cam. i use vr-1 without a problem. i have read you only need it as a breaking oil,(probably depends on your spring pressure) but i continue to run it after the first oil change...small price to pay for peace of mind. BTW, i think it was around $5 a quart.

yea i knew better than to use synthetic but wasn't sure if i was giving the cam enough pertection. so it sounds like 10-30 VR1 with BG MOA then next oil change!

thx guys for the help.

Valvoline VR-1 and 1/2 bottle of EOS every oil change.

that i can do! what weight should i be using in my slant cuz right now its 10-30? im running stock clearances with solid cam, stock oil pump with hemi spring, (want to upgrade to HV hardened gear pump).

10W-30 should be just fine. If you're running a ton of HP then 20W-50

cool thx! yea so the plan tomarrow is to adj the valves and put in a new motor mount... this new slant keeps tearing these crappy chinese mounts

im running straight 30wt i dont understand, why you need 20-50 for higher HP cars? I thought it mattered about the clearances and what oil pressure you get...?? and I only run Vr1 by its self, it says it has ZDDP in it so why need anything else??

click on the corvette link. its still has the AP rating making it s**t. the only oils that are going to keep our solid lifter motors going are either race oils or additives. yea everything still has ZDDP in it but its not very much. looks like quaker state is alright and it still only has 2000 ppm but its still 14 buck a qt.
