I found a company called CarParts that has an Ebay store, they sell directly as well. They have remanufactured Holley carbs that replace the Carter bbd for the 273. They have good feedback, a 30-day return policy, and the price is $169 which sounds fair to me. Sorry I don't know how to post a link.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It can be a crap shoot.

Give it a shot if you like the price. Most carbs are easy to rebuild (unless you have throttle shaft bushing problems, which will complicate things).

Any imput on a replacement carb?
I've got one on the 64 right now. 2bbl. Couldn't find a good core fore about a year. Found one on Ebay, put it on ran better, sent original to Chicago via local parts store. 10 days, $160.00. Git it back put it on, never adjusted, runs like new! Core back on my shelf for later use!
Son bought a rebuilt 1 bbl from Autozone. It had the same box from Chicago. Same story. He's still driving it. Saw him going up the hill the other day.

That's the honest truth. I've been rebuilding carbs for over 25 yrs. and you wouldn't believe the crappy rebuild jobs I've seen come from some of the rebuilder houses. I swear they disassemble 100 carbs at a time and throw all the parts in a huge parts washer and take it out and put whatever fits where it will. I've seen carbs come with different size jets from side to side. One 2 barrel Holley I worked on once that came from a rebuilder house had jets that were 4 sizes different from side to side. But if that's all you can find and they have a good warranty it might be worth a try. For me it'd have to be the last resort.
