Sounds good.
Let me just re-measure my old shroud again just to make sure.
Also, (no offense) but you are sure this is an original and not a repop right?
How do you want payment, do you have a PayPal acct?

Thanks,
-Rick

Sorry Rick, I just sold the shroud.

????????

Yeah that's a tough deal but who knows what really happened on his end.
I know I have talked with people about parts for sale, and then forget who after I have deleated pertinant information. I have since started a FABO log on PAPER in a note book so I can keep track better. 8)
Maybe he got more money for it?
Legally for it to be a deal, he would of had to respond back to your reply about the questions asked.
Maybe it was a repop?
I am not defending him, these are just some of my thoughts.
He should have given you first dibs just to be a gentleman.
I would have. I was selling some Dart grills and someone wanted a deal and I was ready to accept. At the last minute someone offered full price. I responded to the first party and gave them the first right of refusal for full price. They refused. Turns out he knows the party who purchased them.
I think all was cool in the end.

I was interested in that piece along with sereral others. I know atleast 6 people made offers. He pretty much auctioned it of here which is somewhat uncommon practice. Accepted practice n0ne the less. I'm sure the highest offer took it.
The best thing about ebay is if you dont click the buy it now button fastest or place the highest bid... there is no way to whine.

He just did the same thing to me on the same part..... It`s ok, I just scored a near NOS one for $50.00 shipped to my door. His game just saved me over $150.00!!!

Here`s our failed deal:

Hello,
By chance do you know if that part number is correct for a 67 GTS with a 383? If it is, I`ll buy it.
Thanks,
Mark

If it is a late 67 car it will work, the early 67's had a metal shroud i believe.....send a radiator # I can check for you.

I found my paperwork for the radiator. It`s a 22" radiator and the number is 2785929.
Thanks,
Mark

sorry, was sold. your # on radiator did not come up in my part interchange book, I am not so sure it would of been the right one for you any how.

Before this gets too far out of hand, I bought the shroud. I needed it for a 1968 340 Car that I bought a few months ago. Car is a NY Car all it's life and was drag raced so it has it's problems but it runs and I've been driving it. Lots of people on this site have helped me get it to that point.

It does not have it's shroud and seems to get very very hot, I was looking for a shroud for a bit and I saw this pop up and PMd the seller within 5 minutes probably of it being listed, I got lucky and we were working out shipping details and final price. He was probably giving prices and helping people because deals fall through ALL THE TIME, I know this and I'm sure anyone who's sold that knows. From the PMs posted it doesn't sound like there were any hard deals. He said he would hold it for me from the start pretty much as I PMd so soon. As far as I'm concerned he stood by his word 100% and could have gotten more money from someone else, I don't have a lot of money to throw around at all. I'm selling everything I have pretty much to finance getting this car going for the spring. I'm sorry if I stepped on any toes in this purchase, I really didn't know they were this desireable and I hope the bashing of the seller can stop.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I am really biting my tounge right now,

Leave the seller & person who bought the part alone, and move on.
Bigger things to worry about in this world, and you are out how much? NOTHING!

There, See, I AM gaining people skills!

if its the same guy selling the 72 orange duster original paint ,no motor.
i questioned him about the car.
seems like a GOOD GUY.

I sent him my private email right after it posted and he responded soon after.
That is why you didn't see it in the PM's.
We had been in contact via email since the 11/13 (six days).
If he had another buyer, why email me yesterday with price?
All I know is that 45mins. after he gave me the price, I agreed to buy.
I also don't have money ($206.00) to throw around and wanted to be sure it was not repop (that can melt).
Where I come from, if someone accepts a deal you honor it.
Just curious GupsTateS...when did finally you buy it?
Thanks fnabody for the story, glad you won in the end!

never mind

64dart170, thanks for the lesson in people skills.
But if you were looking for a part for your car for over a year,
agreed to buy it and then told it was sold, you might not be so cheery.
I'm not out nothing....I'm out a fan shroud that I needed.
How's your tongue feel?

I have been in your shoes before, but have you been in the sellers?

How would you like it if you were selling a part, a very rare part, and 20 people + more who had been looking for that part drooling, for years, thinking it's their destiny to have that part and that it's really already their part cause they waited so long, totally slammed you all at once, and you were trying your best to make everyone of them happy, so no one is mad at you,

There now your in the sellers frame of mind,
then to have all of em chippin away, more pics, more descriptions, moremore AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Stress happens. I just want you to put youself in the sellers position too.
See the other side, before public flogging!

My .02 from the other side.
Have a great day!8)

So much for tounge biting! Feels great now!

OK
I'm sorry for butting in.
68 cuda shroud, I'm looking right now.
19" original, or 22" rad???

Can your old one be repaired with fiberglass?

Wow...OK, 22" shroud #2785614.
Thanks, I'm calm now.

Cool I'm calling on phone now,
while I'm waiting,
You mention above "your measuring your old one"
Do you still have?
Want me to repair with fiberglass?
What's exactly wrong with it?

Wow...OK, 22" shroud #2785614.

Ok,
Here's the scoop.
The repops when they first came out had problems with shrinkage after they popped out of the mold. So they had alot of problems with fit and they were recalled.
I have been assured that they got all that worked out and the new & improved repops are all good.

Still looking for NOS or used.
Have already been told impossible a couple of times.
Still looking though!
68, ya still there?

Thank you very much for your help.
I know about the repops, have seen average price 150.00
all over the web.
What sucks is that for a little more, I could have had an original!
Better luck next time I guess.
Appreciate your efforts!

All, I have left to say is if you have a part for sale and have a pending deal on that part man up and say so. I always play straight with anyone buying any of my parts. If more than one person is interested then they get told they are second, third, fourth, etc. in line. It's just that simple. I didn't realize that those shrouds were so rare. I guess I really did get a good deal on the one I bought. Of course it came from a friend and he wanted to help me out so it's time for me to buy him a few cold ones.
