I just heard from my buddy Tom. His Dart was just hit by a Coca-Cola truck. He parked it, walked up his friends driveway, and *crunch*.... Said he chased the truck and dragged the driver out. He hung up on me as the Police arrived. This is what it looked like on Sunday.

The side of the car is shredded.... and he is PISSED. Details to follow as we will probably need a few parts.
 
Damn! I fell in love with that Dart when you posted the video of it.
Hope it's fixable.

I hope the truck driver shut his britches when your friend caught him
and drug him out of the truck. He looks like a big ol fellow :naka:

I heard from Tom. The truck driver saw him go down the street and followed him to see the car. Misjudged the turn, and ripped the left rear quarter open.... He was about to move the truck after hitting Tom is when Tom pulled him out and told him to leave the truck there until the police arrived. Accident was reported and he'll get the paperwok from the Police Friday.

It looks like the left quarter panel, tail light assembly w/lense, and the rear bumper. So far....

Tom is furious.... he just got out of the car. He heard the truck coming as he was thinking "What the Hell is he doing on a residential street?" then he heard it.

My buddy is PISSED and I feel terrible for him. I'll go see him tomorrow.

Don't count on it. Most large corporate fleets are self insured and take longer to pay a claim than the worst insurance company. When I worked for Ma Bell, I ran over a Nova with a line truck and it took the company almost 2 years to pay for it. Probably would have taken them longer if I hadn't filed a grievance with the Union because I was being sued personally by the owner of the car in an attempt to collect something.
 
FOOOOOOOK. That sucks. That's 2 pristine A-bodies (sorry Russell) in a month. WTF. These idiots and their company trucks. Hope Tom gave him a swift kick in the balls.

Wow. Ma Bell really sucked. I've seen the self-insured companies and had to deal with them a few times over the collision career. Some of 'em can be like this, others can be pretty upfront, especially if they realize they can loose customers over it. UHaul is self-insured and usually pretty dang quick about fixing in the event of an accident. They usually want a reputable body shop to act as a middle man, preffering to deal with a shop who's going to fix, instead of cutting a check directly to the owner of the vehicle. Hopefully, in this case, Coke, if self-insured, will be quick on the ball to get the car back to it's previous condition.
Am I the only one who sees the irony of this situation? The driver followed John's buddy down the street to get a better look at the car and winds up wrecking it?

Thats Tom, your Burnout video buddy right? That sucks! I hope everything goes well,legally and also with the repair. That is one nice Dart...........And to think the poor bastard in the truck only wanted to take a better look at it. That is really too bad for both Tom and the truck driver.

I agree, from the story in the posting, the truck driver did not intentionally mean to hit the car. I feel bad for the vehicle's owner and for the truck driver. He should have been more careful, that could have been a child in the road. But hopefully your car will get fixed up all nice and do not wish any ill will on the truck driver. He is probably in hot water from his employer for going off of his route. Hopefully he will not lose his job over this.
