I am looking for a body shop or painter to work on a car for me in the Amarillo area. If you know of one please let me know.

THANKS

Hey, carcrazyguy -
I'm checking with one of my Mopar contacts in Amarillo and I'll post some information as soon as it's available.

Thanks! I lived there for a long time but moved away in 2002. I still keep my cars there and need someone to get some work done on one of them!

Hey...if the cars are still in Amarillo you might be interested in our club and the site:

www.amarilloareamopars.com
www.amarilloareamopars.com/phpBB3

What kind of work are you wanting done? Sheet metal replacement, resto, paint, fender-bender etc?

I can spec out a few guys within the club that can probably tackle what you want done.

Plus side there is you've got a Mopar person working on your Mopar...I wouldn't do it any other way!

If you ever need any mechanical stuff just let me know as well...very easy to get you pointed in the right direction there!

Joining AAM is free, same goes for the forum. Feel free to sign up, introduce yourself, and post some pics of the cars! You can also stay up to date on everything we've got going on. If you are for some reason in town tomorrow (Saturday, December 5th) it is the monthly cruise night. Afterwards we are making the long trek across the street to Jorge's Mexican Bar and Grill for our Christmas Party. You are more than welcome to come if you are in town and see this in time.

Hope this will help you out a little. Fill me in on what you are wanting done and I'll try and get you in contact with some of the Mopar folks around town.

Lance

I am needing a Duster finished. The current place took the car apart, worked the doors, trunk lid, hood and drivers fender. It will need small patch panels on both lower 1/4's (I bought AMD patch panels). Then the car will need to be painted. Current bodyman/painter may not be able to complete the job. So if you hear of anyone that is interested and willing, PLEASE let me know!

Lance (TexasStroker) is the Amarillo Mopar contact I mentioned earlier.

Thanks, I hope someone there knows someone that is wanting some work!!

Hopefully the original bodyman/painter will finish the project. If not I may have to fly up to locate a shop to take in the project. I talked to one shop that can take it in the first part of March if it comes to that. If anyone has suggestions (or who not to use) on a shop, PLEASE let me know. The motor is at the machine shop and I am determined not to let this project take 4 years like my Dart did.... :fingerscrossed:

I know two guys who may be interested...I'll try and get in contact with them and get back to you. My big downfall is that my free time is usually limited to weekends and late at night (like now). That said, I'll get emails out tomorrow for you and see what I hear back.

I can't remember the shop that did the car, but we had a member who had his 68 Charger re-painted silver with ghost flames. The car came out great and if I remember the shop was very reasonably priced. I will get in contact with him as well. I am pretty sure Cris and Jody would have both gotten to see the Grey Ghost at some point following the repaint.

If you've got the motor at D&L I think that Dallas has had good luck with Nichols in Canyon and Larry probably knows a few folks as well.

Thanks Lance. I talked to Dallas about Nichols yesterday. Just trying to get a plan B in place in the event it comes to that. I know the current guy is doing all he can, just things beyond his control may prevent him from finishing it.

I shot off an email late last night and got a reply this afternoon...I'll PM you the contact info and see if you can't work something out with this guy. All of his work that I have seen is top notch and he is a Mopar guy. Hopefully it'll work out for you.

Thanks to all those in the area for helping out. I have a couple of good leads to check into. Hopefully, by the end of the year I will know if the current shop is finishing or not. This is killing me!

Well after two nights of no sleep wondering what was going happen. I had to make the choice...I had the car removed from the 1st shop today. So the search continues.

I have talked to a few people about finishing the car. I have been in contact with Larry Lyles and Robertson Body Shop. I am going to get one more bid from Woody. One of those three will likely finish the paint and body work.

Well it will not be Robertson.....the bid ("now this is only an estimate so it could run over")..........25K............only to do the bodywork and paint. Keep in mind that the car is a Texas car and will not need any floor pan replacement, trunk floor replacement. The only metal replacement needed is a small area on the lower 1/4's behind the wheels. That 25k is just sanding, bodywork and paint. It would not include bolting anything back on the car except doors and fenders.

Here is where it stands now...

Nichols in Canyon said they will not do any restoration work AT ALL.
Robertsons Body Shop wanted 25k (prep and paint only)
Woody (highly recommended by 3-4 people) won't answer PM's or return my calls

So I have a contacted a couple of people that are planning to look over the car this weekend to see if they are interested in taking it in. I am going to keep hunting, I will find someone.....

I did my trunk floor...your car won't be perfect if I do the work, but it would definitely stand out and could be deemed unique...not sure that would be in a good way though, lol.

I hadn't been on here since I last replied to the thread...I'll see if I can get a hold of woody and tell him to check his email.

I had 2 people set to come look at the car over the weekend. Never heard from either one over the weekend. I had another guy call last night and he is suppose to go look at it tonight.

P.S. That 25k bid (in my opinion) was basically telling me that the shop did not want to mess with it. When we were talking he said 25k. I said "Well I just want the car painted and the body panels installed and aligned. I will finish the interior, glass install and final assembly". He ever so nicely told me, "that 25K is only for bodywork and paint, no reassembly. And oh that is just a bid we might have to go over by 10-20%"......lol

Geez! What a nighmare! For half that I will learn to do it!!

I wish I had just a little more skill. I could do the bodywork here and paint it on base in a real booth. I have only done 2. Both in the 2 car garage and both for me.

Hopefully somebody can help you out.

I hope so as well. LOL I plan to move in about 17-18 months. I might be buying a place with a nice shop behind the house. Then I will be burning the midnight oil trying it myself!!

Geez! What a nighmare!

Well it continues. I talked to someone that was really interested in working on the car. They made an appointment to take a look at the car. Never called, never showed up. Then the next time we spoke, made another appointment, no show.........

Any other painters in the area? The painter that I really wanted to do the car has never shown up (3 missed appointments) to look at the car and now will not return calls. So back to the hunt.....painter wanted!! :)
