Billy is considering a trade of his 1948 Fiat Nostaligia Fuel Altered for a numbers matching (preferably 4 speed) running and driving street Mopar. Must be very clean / nice -- no projects, kit cars or race cars.

His altered is one of the old MOB fuel cars from the west coast. This is the real deal!!! Set a 5 sec 1/4 mile record in 1986 in Spokane, Washington (http://www.mysterion.net/AAFA/mob.shtml near the bottom of the page).

Of five originally built, only two still exist -- the other is reportedly in the Petersen Automotive Museum. Per the original builder, Ed Moore, the chassis has been modified a bit over the years but this IS his car.

Certified to 7.50s with current SFI belts.

MSD ignition (7AL box, 2 step, pro red HVC coil)
Autometer gauges
Ford 9" rear end with all Mark Williams components
4.30 pro gears / spool
17 x 2.25 spindle mount Weld Prostar front wheels
32 x 14 x 15 rear Weld draglites
Goodyear tires all around
Hurst ProStick shifter
Simpson Parachute
8' single wheel wheelie bar

Set up for either a SBC, BBC or Hemi (no motor plates for the Hemi). BBC zoomies and SBC zoomie kit are included with the deal. Originally set up for an early Hemi or 417 Donovan and a Lenco.

You can check out more photos on my website's About Us page near the bottom (click the link in the caption above its picture to see a couple dozen more photos). Additional photographs are also available upon request.

He will consider an outright sale too. Asking $25,000 as a roller (less motor/tranny) or $45,000 with the current SBC and 1.76 pro tree 10 clutch powerglide. 1.82 pro tree powerglide also included for the $45,000 price tag. Give him a call at 731-613-9192 between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. for particulars on the motor and to discuss your trade.

This isn't a must-sell situation, he's just testing the water to see what's out there.

Thanks for looking!

Hey Leanna, here's a pic I found online of one of the earlier 'Mob' Fiat altereds not having a good day at OCIR. Enjoy.

I am originally from Spokane and am only displaced here in California for another 9 months then I will go back to Spokane. I love the track though. Great place to go spend 10 bucks and "street" style race on Fridays. Good luck with the trade.

...and here's one of the later 'Mob' altereds having a much better day, again at OCIR

Ed Moore is still in san Bernardino,Ca. making driveshafts. He has done a few for me.

Cool pics Ken!

Thanks for the comments and for helping to document the history guys. It's a really cool car, and unlike much else out there.

Leanna: You tell Billy that this is a no brainer. Paint that unit in original paint and do decals accordingly and stuff a BBC in it and head for Barret/Jackson. They'll eat that stuff up especially on a museum piece. While he's there he'll be able to by that car he wants and then stick some cash in his pocket......or yours...Hint, Hint. I don't have any 4 speed stuff or i would consider it. I do have 74 440 Duster but.......
Small Block

I have to agree with Smallblock, the interest in that car at B/J would be there.
I remember that car from a few years ago at either The March Meet or CHRR and have been a fan of The Mob for many years. Somewhere I have pictures from LACR back in the days of the annual Fuel Altered meet where the Mob was always competitive and entertaining.
I spent a couple of minutes trying to figure a way to buy it and then reality set in. Thanks for the picture and keep us informed as to what happens to the car.

... and try to get it back in its former race trim from 1986 when it set the record.

Guess ya got to him Small Block LOL!!! :-D

He was digging around doing research about it the other night and found this. I figured you guys would get a kick out of it.

I know it didn't win that race but it sure looked cool doing what it's supposed to do instead of sitting idle in the basement.

If you know anyone looking, he asked me to post some unneeded parts for sale and 14x8 slots a couple days ago to get what he needs for nostalgia events at Bowling Green.
