I would take the spark plug out and put a tbs of 30w oil in
slowly pull cord , and then few time put a compression tester "if you have one" and test comp... Clean out your gas bowl of any water, it will not let gas pass, some good pulls on the rope with the plug out should get your rings lube'ed up and you should be able to see a good blue spark, If not do like demon seed said. I agree you should have the same compretion as you did the day you shut it down last year.
