I've been wanting to build a 30 x40 shop for a long time. Any suggestions on type? Prices? I plan on 12' walls so i can install a lift. Thanks for your help.

Mine is nowhere near that size, mine is only 22x22 with 8' walls. But what i did was wait and hunt around and I found an older house that was going to be torn down for a new development and the garage was for sale. Bought the garage for $500. My dad and I formed a pad, hired someone to pour and finish and then paid a house mover to move it. All in $5k, no hydro or heat, but i figure i saved about 1/2 the price if not more and it was done in a matter of a week. All depends what you want for a garage. Mine is jam packed and wish I had twice the space, but I am financially challenged. Good luck!

My suggestion...no matter the size.....build it close to your house as you can....mine is 250 ft out back and I wished i built it right out side my door......and it is tough to get out there when it is cold out......mine is 28 x 56, 11 ft ceiling, pole barn style no [oles in the center wide open.....If you can afford to make an up stairs for storage...anything is better tahn nothing,,,I screwed my self cause i didn't listen ....I have stuff shoved in the rafters...PINA......it don;t look that big but it is

I talked to Rick a couple of years ago. i wish i would have let him do it then. I'm sure it will cost more now. But i do plan on getting with him. There are so many steel buildings out there it's mind boggling.

my suggestion would be to build it in Roxboro NC, i have some land behind the house you can put it on.

I have both steel and pole .The pole was considerably cheeper and it will outlast me and my decendants. If you would like to see my shop email me your phone number and I will call and give you directionsRick has done several jobs for me from a 20X40 wood shop 40X80 pole barn.20X30 stage
He will work with you on the price

Thanks, but i know Rick pretty well. I've been to his annual car blow up now for the last three years. If you have never been to it you need to try and make it. It is the first weekend in December and the best part is it's FREE.

I was looking at a 30x40 from them. I inquired new years eve and they called me 52 times between then and the 13th. Very high preasure sales tactics.

The salesman that came here was an older guy and was rather laid back and handled his self well, when there was a problem with one of the door seals he had a guy out there the next day.

I am in the same boat but my plans are a 24 x 32 with 9' walls for now. the dart will be the only car in it for now. need some better weather so i can have the pad poured. i have the steel beams the sidings is 2 1/2" inch thick foam insulations with .032 metal on inside and out double touge and groove and have the metal for the roof and all flashing ready. will have to get trusses but will order them once i get the beams up. lumber yard hear in town stocks them.

Good luck with yours
