Winter time model building thread.

Dug through some of my unfinished kits the other day and didn't realize that this kit was so close. All I needed to do was paint the seat and slam it together.

One of Polar Light's kits. Combo snap and glue. Loved Scooby Doo, Where are You. So I needed one for the display shelf.

Waiting for Polar Light's re-release of the '60s Batmobile. There's another car I've always loved the looks of. I know it's a big honking POS in real life, but lets run that customized Lincoln against the General Lee on the display shelf :-D

When I was in the U.S. Air Farce, staioned in wild wonderful Biloxi Mississippi(in the early/mid 70's the place was a true rathole), in my boredom on base, I used to build models, then, using numerous implements(needles, pencils, etc) and heat, I would "massage" them into looking like they had been in mediocre to horrific crashes, call it the morbid side of my personality. I had about 15 models at the peak, one of which was a Pinto that I crunched the rear in and then using paint and large flame, to create mucho soot, gave it the look of a real pinto that had a rear end collision and had burned.

It all came to an end, though, when, during an inspection, the Squadron 1st Sgt ordered me to destroy the carsm as they "represented a morbid side of life that wasn't consistent with the Air Farce's philosophy,", his words verbatim. I had to supply him with the crushed broken remains of the cars. It really pissed me off, cause it took lots of time, and creativity(something I severely lack) to create these.

I have often thought about starting to buy models again(AMT's were my fave's as they seemed to offer the greatest flexibility in builds, and were really good to create these effects with) and working on my own display of "wrecked cars".

But then again, I have so much time to put into the REAL 64 Barracuda when the weather breaks.

This might upset the Ford guy's out there but like they say Dodge Different! Here's a different build I did last year 32 Ford with a supercharged slant 6 built it just to be different. The supercharger was scratch built as was the exhaust header. I've built a few of these 32's with 440's & Hemi's thought why not a /6 this time.
That's COOOOLLLLL!!!

Been working on this off and on. I should have masked the body and sprayed the head liner, but I brushed it instead. The foil on the headliner bows turned out o.k. But the paint just looks too thick to me. Lesson learned. You can see there is still detail paint work yet to be done, but here are some pics. Those tiny pieces of foil are just ridiculous to work with. There are pics of this model earlier in the thread for those interested. Happy building.8)

Can someone find me a 67 notchback barracuda model?

I want to get that and a 70 aar cuda just for the stripes, and build a model of my car.
I also need a hemi hood scoop and weld draglite wheels.

Pm me if you can lead me to one.

Keep buzzin'. Be nice to have a forum to post question in for technique and tech without making this thread a million pages long and having to dig through all those pages.

dge, just saw one of the '75 Road Runners on eBay. At the time it had five bids, had a week to go, and was up past $25.00.

I built the '69 Camaro Z/28 kit for my brother-in-law. He had a '69 as a kid, before he went into the Navy in the mid '70s. It was the first time I'd cut and hinged the trunk. I'd finished the trunk floor, found an old steelie wheel, drilled out the lugs, put it in as a spare. I think I may have detailed under the hood on that one, it's been years since I've seen it.
I still got one of those 75 Road Runners in a sealed box. I also have another one that was poorly built that I found built at a flea market, so I made a clunker out of it.

GOOD LUCK on that one!!!! Years ago my bro and I looked and all we could find (other than the AMT '69 fastback) was resin bodies for about $50+. BUT, should someone know where to get a 67 Notchback Barracuda kit... I'd love to be added to this request please! :D

Another good reason for this to have its own small forum. It would be much easier to find items to build replicas of there own cars. Please Joey.
Any word on my FABO stickers Joey? Thanks. 8)

Here's your `67 Notchback by one of THE best resin casters in the bussiness, Modelhaus, and the master was created by one of THE best model builders out there, Juha Oira of Finland. Granted, it's $79.... but where else you gonna get the best by the best of YOUR EXACT CAR?

http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4197&p=63577

The AAR strobe stripe, Hemi scoop, and the Weld Wheels can all be sourced from various production kits. I'll assume you have some left over paint for touch-up's. You'll have to give up about 2 oz. to spray your model.

Since my request for a model forum has fallen between the cracks, I'd suggest you guys ask Joey to consider it too.

I've used some of the Modelhaus's bodies and parts very satisfied with the fit and quality. Awesome place to deal with for rare/odd models
