HUGE mistake?

I asked the wife for her opinion on paint............boy was that I HUGE F*&$ up.

she apparently thought I was asking for approval, now she is trying to tell me what colors and schemes I am "allowed" to paint it.

It went from:
1. all blue
2. blue body gray metallic hood and around the windows (like 70-71's)
3. 2-tone blue-gray (atlantic blue pearl-mineral gray)
4. 2-tone dark metallic gray and silver.
5. 2-tone blue-silver
6. now looks like too much silver..

so I think I will cover the thing in little lcd screens that can change color based on her mood....what do you think? :lol:

oh yeah I even spent hours playing with pictures so she could "see" what it would look like.

Oh man, what were you thinking? You never ask for the wife's opinion unless you have it narrowed down to 2 choices and you REALLY can't decide. They actually all look good but I think the blue body with dark gray on top looks best but I don't know if I would carry it all the way to the back or just do the hood and top edge the way they came with the flat black? I actually did the same with my wife and she picked sublime for my Duster, it was that or plum crazy and I was happy with either so why not ask :toothy7:
 
I prefer simply stock type paint jobs but the last one looks pretty good.

Rob, I actually did give her 2 options and they were the bottom pic and the gray top blue bottom....she chose option D: none of the above! She did let it slip that she "kinda" liked the 2 bottom pics.

On the other hand she is redoing my middle daughters room and picking colors in the next couple of days.....IT'S TIME TO MAKE A DEAL
maybe I'll become VERY interested in interior design :lol: and make her banish me to the garage !!!

AdamR, I would tend to agree on most cars but this beauty was a /6 gold duster with snake skin vinyl top and is going to have all sorts of mods.

ya know just the usual (oil slick, smokescreen, machine gun headlights and the ever popular ejector seat!! who knows maybe a wet bar in the trunk)..ok i'm back now:rolleyes:
 
I'm a single color only guy myself,but the factory blackout on the hood,tops of the fenders,and doors and along the roof rail is pretty nice too,my last duster was painted that way...
 
I think i took the last picture at the spring fling. I like it the best
 
hmmmmmmmmm the two tone Duster thing seems oddly familiar..... the dark gray on the bottom and blue on top is similar to what mine will be.....except the blue will be Lazer red.... ;)

so I kinda like that

first off.........who's name is on the title? who's name appears FIRST on the house? i like 4 and 6, but you have got to narrow it down. if you have the fold down rear seat option, you might end up sleeping there..............

As for the "who's car is it anyway" thing. She hasn't had a job for ...9yrs, so technically the house, 06 quest (HER car) and everything else is mine (yeah right) but I planted the seed today, I told her that I trust her judgment for the carpet in the girls room.

If she is paying for it then you are screwed. If you are paying for it tell her to get back in the kitchen to either wash the dishes or make you something to eat. If it isn't time to eat then tell her to get the laundry done. Also, ask her why men don't do laundry or wash dishes. When she asks you why, tell her it's because it's womans work. That should be enough to have her forever banish you to the garage. If you don't end up divorced then you may be able to pick the color YOU want on YOUR car. GOOD LUCK!!!

it is better to ask forgiveness than permission

but if momma's not happy NO one is happy

I like #2 except I would follow the rear window line up over the top split the color and not go over the side to the top body line, use the top ridge of the fender as split line

My 2 cents

I use to two tone lots of my models growing up, they would be fogged down the sides since I never taped them off. Several of the truck customizers have painted like this for years, I should have pattened it............LOL
 
Do what you want. Leave her to decide what color your house is inside and out, but not your car! That's man's space....
