Mexican 1970 GTS - ebay

Maybe a stolen US car that was taken to Mexico and reserialized with a wrecked car there?

I don't think so; I think it's a real Mexican car. Spend some time looking at the pics and you can start to count up little differences between this car and US/Canada-built ones. Take a look at the firewall, for example…also see the Prestolite alternator, though of course that could've been swapped on later. The 318 and 270hp badges are genuine Mexican-production items, though as with the GTS badge we don't know if they're original to this car. Interior clues include the km/h speedometer, the upholstery, the lack of head restraints and seatbelts, the different handbrake handle…

But I did just notice the seller is calling himself "West Coast Mopar" and claiming to be a full-service restoration shop specialising in custom builds and kit cars. Which, together with "needs total restoration", reinforces my earlier guess: this guy bit off way more than he could chew. If it were practicably restorable, why sell it as a project? Why not do the work and sell for big bucks?

As for Galen Goober, put me on the list of people who don't give a flying fig what he thinks and aren't impressed by his self-proclaimed "guru" title.
